Site QC Manage - Your future position?
As the Site QC Manager, you would plan, organize and oversee the implementation of Quality Control programs and provide assistance for the daily quality control operation and activities within a large manufacturing site
Strategy design and execution:
  • Based on global QM strategy for QC, implement tactical and operational quality control plans for the assigned site in order to meet objectives.

EHS:
  • Applying applicable corporate or local guidance relating to EHS in QC.
  • Defining EHS requirements for both employees working in QC and visitors (internal & external) to QC.
  • Ensuring that effective procedures are in place to enforce the EHS requirements.
  • Assuring the QC team is adequately trained and aware of applicable EHS requirements.
  • Risk assessing the safety of operations / tasks occurring within QC

QM Compliance:
  • Ensuring the QC function works in a manner that is compliant to Global QM’s requirements for QC.
  • Escalating any attempt to put under pressure the QC process or interfere with the QC usage decision that may compromise material quality or threaten the independence of the QC decision making process.

Material Quality:
  • Maintaining the global harmonization in quality of purchased RM’s and manufactured products to the defined standard/specification.
  • The accuracy and appropriateness of sensory assessments, test results and the final QC Pass/Fail usage decision, considering all implications globally.
  • Ensuring material standards are maintained, fit for use and updated as required.
  • Ensuring that the material status of both Site & Batch owned inventory is appropriately maintained. Provision of support for validation trials requiring QC.
  • Is the ultimate decision making authority regarding batch release in cases where the QC team have doubts and is the primary point of contact for all internal & external stakeholders relating to matters of material quality

QC Expert:
  • The effectiveness of this role. Assigning this role to an appropriate person(s) who has the required capability and business acumen to fore fill the role effectively.
  • Providing the assigned person(s) with adequate time to perform the role effectively

Management of Material Non Conformance:
  • Ensuring the function can provide adequate effective technical leadership, support, advice and expertise in relation to material quality issues and determine root cause / preventive action relating to material quality complaints, ncr’s, questions & enquiries.

Test Equipment, Methods & Reagents:
  • Ensuring that QC instrumentation and equipment is calibrated and maintained.
  • Ensuring that reagents, solvents, consumables etc used in QC are controlled and of the required quality.
  • Ensuring that QC test methods are sufficiently accurate & precise, documented, version controlled and validated.

Material Specifications
  • Effectively maintaining all aspects of material specifications including sampling rules, ensuring they are sufficiently comprehensive to maintain the required material quality, documented, version controlled and applied.
  • Maintaining sample drawing & special handling instructions

Management of People:
  • The management of employees within the QC function, ensuring the required level of capability and competency is maintained.
  • Oversee the execution of annual human resources processes within the local QC organization and validate related results.
  • Work with the local Operations management team and HR Business Partner(s) in developing a talent pipeline for the local QC organization.
  • Drive the development and promotion of local QC talents within Operations.

Effectiveness & Efficiency of the QC function:
  • Agreeing and maintaining QC lead-time targets. Driving improvements in the QC processes inc. SAP, developing KPI’s and the culture of continuous improvement eg SOED/RIE/VPM.
  • The cost effectiveness of the function without compromising the above requirements.
  • Requesting CAPEX investment for eg new/replacement equipment, infrastructure etc.

Academic Background
  • Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or related discipline.
  • MSC is preferred.

Professional Experience
  • Overall work experience of 7+ years in a similar position.
  • Previous background in Sensory Evaluation and Analytical QC required.
  • 4 to 5 years of people management / supervisory experience required.

Technical Skills
  • Proficient in reading, writing and comprehending English language
  • Proficient in systems and procedures for laboratory operations.
  • Proficient in production methods and quality control systems and procedures in manufacturing facilities.
  • Broad based knowledge of product technologies and applications.
  • Broad based knowledge of ingredients and products safety principles, global standards as well as regulations.
  • Knowledge of ingredients and products labelling regulations.
  • Knowledge of sensory principles and understanding of the data analysis of sensory results.
