Role Description
This is a part-time remote role for a Head of Commercial Partnerships at WRKS Games and is paid on a generous success commission base only. The role involves overseeing and managing strategic planning, analytical skills, commercial management, deal-making, and commercial development for our IP properties. It reports directly to the CEO.
It will be your job to find and execute on route-to-market deals, IP licensing deal opportunities, new market growth opportunities and co-branding and commercial brand development deals.
This is a job currently done by our CEO and the creation of this role is specifically to offload this activity from her into a dedicated role.
Compensation
This role has no fixed compensation and is paid entirely in commission on 10% of your deal value (including residual sales post the initial deal). max capped at USD 1 Million per year. You should expect to take up to 3 years from the start to hit that cap with a gradual rise throughout that period.
Person Definition
We would expect you to have a minimum of 20 years of industry experience in commercial deal-making and licensing in Video Games, TV, Films, or related fields with a black book of contacts in the relevant industries to match that time. Our focus is North America and Asia at this time with South America and Africa as secondary focus. Europe is not a target market for us.
We would expect you to have led a successful career to date in either business development or from an operations role looking to move to business development and are either retired recently or looking for your last job before retirement where you can earn at a level to give yourself a comfortable exit and a worthy nest egg through this assignment where you can capitalize on a career completed well and make the kind of money that is generally impossible in this industry from a single role.
The job definition here is the same one that I myself execute this job at today and the person taking this job from me must be able to execute on the same terms at a higher level than I do. This is an extremely pivotal role for us that will be responsible for all future money-making we do in the company and is a role for a sharp commercial and detail-oriented mind with a very deep understanding of making money in the entertainment industry.

- Strategic Commercial Planning and Commercial Management skills
- Analytical Skills
- Finance skills and negotiating skills
- A calm, focused demeanor, extensive industry connections across the world, and a respected work track record in your field.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is a strong plus. An MBA is a very strong plus.
- Genuine interest in gaming and entertainment as well as new IP development a strong plus.
