Role

In order to ensure strong support for its international strategy, the organization wants to obtain the assistance of an experienced business partner (HRM), who can help attain corporate objectives related to globalization. The candidate’s international experience will stimulate leaders’ thinking about how they manage talent and provide support as they identify practices that will encourage employee engagement and mobilization. Taking into account our business issues and local realities, the candidate will participate in the development of HR programs and policies and deliver them to business units through appropriate change management strategies. The candidate will coach team leaders, providing them with continuous feedback to foster the development of managerial skills. The candidate has expertise in how to apply talent management practices, programs and policies and will serve as a reference on best local and industry practices.

Through the role’s positioning and an overview of needs, the candidate will work with CDPQ’s Talent and Performance team on a regular basis.


Main responsibilities

Strategic partner :

  • Support management teams in the subsidiaries as they carry out their business plans and identify the impacts on talent management;
  • Establish relationships of trust with the management teams, while positively representing current or required orientations, projects, approaches and programs;
  • Support the quality of management teams’ strategic thinking as they make decisions that will affect talent management.

Coach to team leaders :

  • Help leaders develop management skills;
  • Help leaders manage disputes.

Delivery of HR programs and policies :

  • Influence the development of Talent & Performance orientations, programs and policies, endorsing and promoting them;
  • Support adjustments to programs and policies in response to organizational realities and ensure that the adjustments are made;
  • Support leaders as they implement talent management activities such as workforce planning, the planning of shared training needs, performance management, compensation management, succession and talent management, and other organizational development initiatives;
  • Ensure that activities comply with HR orientations and that their impacts on the organization as a whole are taken into consideration.

Expert/Generalist :

  • Serve as an expert and resource to the teams managing our international subsidiaries as they make adjustments to and apply talent management practices, programs and policies;
  • Propose innovative talent management solutions by staying abreast of the latest trends;
  • Help develop and/or adjust, implement and disseminate annual programs, practices and processes, such as:Performance management,
    Annual salary reviews,
    Setting incentive compensation,
    Workforce planning,
    Planning of training needs,
    Health and occupational safety rules, practices and monitoring;
    etc.
  • Steer the overall recruiting process, from needs analysis to the integration process;
  • Ensure that employee records are maintained and comply with the rules;
  • Interpret, offer advice and play an active role in resolving disputes;
  • Ensure that our practices are compliant, based on current industry rules and practices.

Change agent :

  • Identify and raise awareness of critical needs for change;
  • Propose appropriate solutions and initiatives, and provide the support needed for their implementation;
  • Encourage leaders and employees to become actively involved in and embrace change initiatives.

Requirements :

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field such as industrial relations, human resources or organizational development
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience, experience in working abroad;
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written);
  • Good knowledge of the automation tools in the Microsoft Office suite;
  • Experience in strategic planning;
  • Experience working in Canada is a plus in order to understand and promote the culture in the APAC markets.
  • In-depth knowledge of English.
  • Excellent proficiency in French, French is a real plus as the candidate will have to liaise with French speaking clients and Stakeholders, both spoken and written.
