Technical Support Engineer
Job Description:
Technically skilled and highly motivated person with specialization in biomedical engineering or experience working with medical devices to join our expanding team. This role demands a strong background in computer networking, healthcare technologies, and regulatory compliance, with a focus on supporting both pre-sales and post-sales activities – competency, consultancy, implementation, maintenance, and management of the distribution – across diverse markets in South and Southeast Asia. Travel required across South and Southeast Asia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support & Deployment:
Install, calibrate, and maintain advanced medical devices across various clinical settings. Troubleshoot hardware/software and networking issues related to medical device systems. - Computer Networking:
Set up and manage local and remote network configurations for integrated systems and solution. Collaborate with hospital IT teams to ensure secure and compliant system integration. - Partner & Principal Management:
Serve as a technical liaison between the company, regional partners, and global OEM principals. Support training, coordinate deployments, and assist in resolving technical escalations. - Regulatory & Compliance Oversight:
Ensure all medical device installations and services adhere to local and international regulatory standards (e.g., CE, FDA, SS620 and local regulatory requirements). Assist in documentation for regulatory submissions and audits. - Project Coordination:
Lead or support regional projects, including product launches, demos, and customer onboarding. Ensure timely execution and customer satisfaction. - Training, Education & Competency Management:
Conduct hands-on training for clinical users, technicians, and partners. Develop user guides, SOPs, and training material tailored to regional needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field
- 3–6 years of experience in medical devices or related healthcare technologies
- Proficiency in computer networking (TCP/IP, VPN, firewalls, DICOM or HL7 EMR and HIS etc.)
- Familiarity with regulatory standards in the medical device industry (e.g., ISO 13485, IEC 60601, SS620)
- Experience working with or managing distribution partners and OEM principals
- Willingness to travel extensively across South and Southeast Asia
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Experiences:
- Experience with EMR/PACS integration
- Prior experience working with ophthalmic device brands (e.g., Zeiss, Haag-Streit, Topcon, Nidek, etc.)
- Possesses cross-cultural awareness
- Knowledge of cybersecurity standards in healthcare settings
