We are looking for a Research Technologist to join Assistant Prof Zhenxun Wang’s laboratory. The Group's primary focus is understanding glaucoma pathogenesis. Using multidisciplinary approaches to decipher next generation sequencing data from large cohort studies, the Group aims to delineate the role of risk genes and their influence in pathophysiology underpinning glaucoma disease progression.

This role will provide an exciting opportunity for the individual to learn and experience cutting-edge research and play an important role in impacting patients’ lives. The selected candidate will perform a variety of functions related to research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate, including but not limited to the following: -

  • Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project.
  • Perform in vitro cell assays and molecular biology experiments including pulse chase and aggregation assays.
  • Animal handling, including breeding and basic animal husbandry.
  • Assist researchers in contributing to some aspects of the project management including procurement of laboratory supplies.
  • Assist with general upkeep of laboratory needs, maintain safety protocols, provide technical support and establish work procedures to ongoing research projects.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma degree in Sciences/Life Sciences.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and expertise in supporting various research activities including molecular biology, cellular assays, in particular, pulse chase and aggregation assays, tissue histology, and confocal imaging.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a strong team player who is organised, energetic, open-minded, highly motivated, able to multi-task and work collaboratively in a diverse workforce.
