The contract manufacturing (RoW) Program engineer plays a key role in managing the relationship with contract manufacturers on a day-to-day basis. This position supports ASMPT CM Program manager and works closely with CM partners to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery targets. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives, resolving technical issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain relationships with CM partners. Key point of contact for any operational issues by CMs at working team level.
- Capacity / Production Planning: Coordinate with internal teams and CMs on production schedules. Align S&OP plans between ASMPT & CM; collaborate to de-escalate supply risks.
- Qualification: Together with CM management team, implement stringent qualification plan with QA for CMs to ensure CMs meet ASMPT’s standards (training, copy-exact transfer, FAI and PPAP).
- Quality Assurance: Execute quality control processes with QA and ensure CMs’ adhere to strict quality, safety, trade, legal and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Operational & Engineering Support: Support production line issue troubleshooting & resolution (e.g., CM late delivery) and coordinate with technical leads for change requests review. Liaise with Internal Manufacturing to support engineering issues in production, improve process efficiencies to gain productivity.
- Continuous Improvement: Support CMs on validating and implementing improvement ideas.
- Contract Manufacturer Negotiations: Prepare materials to support negotiation with CM to achieve best optimal cost & deliver business needs (e.g., supply capacity, pricing structure, quality etc.)
- Performance Management: Track CM’s operational performance regularly via operational KPIs. Escalate any operational issues to CM managers.
- Project Management: Coordinate across various internal and external stakeholders to align and progress per plan to achieve the desired outcomes. Escalate and mitigate business critical risks. Support CM Managers to implement project plan and ensure progress is on track.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor’s) in supply chain management, engineering, or a related field
- At least 5 years of working experience in commercial / business and manufacturing (operations, quality, technology, planning) function required.
- Experience in External & Contract Manufacturing, Supply Chain Process & Quality Management.
- Proficiency in Mechanical and Electrical/Electronic Drawings as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent project management and organizational abilities, able to coordinate and facilitate across various internal and external functions to achieve the desired outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal & communication skills; mature, pleasant, and highly energetic personality.
- Analytical mindset with ability to make data-driven decisions and problem solve.
- Willingness to travel within SEA, East Asia to visit CMs and any other countries as needed.
