Job Description Summary: What do you need to know about the role: The role will lead sales development in Southeast Asia and a key driver of merchant success, responsible for managing relationships, overseeing account strategy and identifying opportunities for portfolio growth within the SMB segment. As a trusted advisor, this role will help merchants solve frictional events and drive cross selling and upselling of PayPal products across the managed portfolio. Through analytics and trigger-based targeting – the team is required to solve problems quickly and drive customer success. The incumbent is also expected to work closely with the SMB strategy team to ensure that voices of merchants for the portfolio are well represented and continue to drive portfolio insights and ongoing support while advocating for merchant needs and aligning them with PayPal's strategic goals. This role will manage a team of sales development analyst to deliver revenue and margin targets for a set of merchants in their market.

Your way to impact

As head of sales development Southeast Asia team, you will recruit, coach and maintain a high-performance sales force who operate across multiple SEA Markets. This role will report into the Senior Director of High Value SMB and Inside Sales, APAC. The incumbent will need to have a good understanding of the needs of small and medium businesses and challenges they face when growing with PayPal. This role and team will collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams to support growth objectives and provide world class support to our most valuable SMB customers.

In your day-to-day, you will

  • Accountable for the financial performance of the managed portfolio

  • Managing 3 key workstream within SMB portfolio i.e. Account Management, Churn Save Triggers and Migration Activities

  • Identify risks and opportunities based on customer feedback

  • Lead, coach and manage a team across various SMB health metric

  • Uphold the PayPal Leadership principles within their team to: ‘Win Together,’ ‘Work customer back,’ and ‘Put People First.’

  • Drive revenue retention, upsell, and cross-sell opportunities, consistently achieving sales quotas and exceeding KPIs.

  • Partner with key cross functional stakeholders to unblock barriers for SMBs (E.g. Risk, Compliance, core SMB teams, analytics and sales)

  • Develop a holistic plan on upskilling the team with sales and customer success training

  • Manage capacity planning and allocation of resource to key workstreams on a weekly basis

  • Work with internal stakeholders to review and enhance existing sales process to help sales representatives shorten the sales cycle.

  • As a leader of the Sales Development team, you will be required to coach team and drive team towards excellence in account management.

  • Prepare and provide business reviews to senior leadership team

What do you need to bring

  • A Degree with 12+ years of relevant work experience in the Payment industry

  • Full proficiency in both English and Mandarin to support mandarin speaking merchants.

  • Relevant experience in account management, client success, or sales, within the payments industry with a focus on driving merchant growth and retention.

  • Proven people management experience leading a team, delivering results and developing future leaders.

  • Leading account management team experience would be a plus

  • Ability to develop account management strategy and identify key prospects for pipeline building

  • Strong knowledge of the payments industry, including competitive landscape, market trends, and merchant needs, to shape and refine strategic account initiatives.

  • Pipeline management expertise, and experience with Salesforce

  • Collaborative and adaptable, thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities and delivering exceptional outcomes.

  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex topics while not losing sight of details

  • Strong executor and ability to inspire a team

  • Strong quantitative analytical skills, able to manage through data and insights to build compelling and innovative strategies

  • Very strong customer focus, naturally including customer perspective in plans, decisions and actions

  • Experience leading complex strategic and operational initiatives, working through technical, operational, legal/policy and business issues
