RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports to the Senior Associate Director and assists on pedagogy matters and technical expertise to support instructors who are converting their courses to blended learning format.
- Support the Senior Associate Director on the strategic directions and mapping out of BL implementation framework and strategies, in consultation with the Director CTE, to advance SMU's differentiation in the learning environment.
- Conduct front-end consultation sessions on BL projects with instructors to ensure that the solutions developed align with sound learning design principles, are supported by EdTech tools, and correspond to the intended learning needs and outcomes.
- Review faculty BL proposals and existing content materials, conduct needs assessments with the faculty lead and make informed decisions on what content to redevelop and how to translate it into learning objects that meet standards and guidelines set by international bodies.
- Identify appropriate solution(s) for the course, including determining the proper blend of instructor-led, hands-on, and digital training to be used in a given solution.
- Manage vendors to ensure rigor and standard of elearning materials (technical and pedagogical).
- Evaluate e-learning materials and analyse students' feedback to improve learning and/or develop additional materials.
- Team up with in-house and external designers and developers as an integral part of the build process.
- Collaborate with the CTE team on TEL-related projects by providing pedagogical input as a Learning Designer in the design and development of various media (e.g., engaging web-based and mobile learning applications, videos, animations, games, simulations, and other instructional technologies for online and blended learning activities), and in mounting content on the eLearn, Learning Management System, with familiarity in its features and tools.
- Plan and conduct faculty development workshops on curriculum design, development, and delivery of BL and its corresponding tools to faculty and staff in SMU.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- A degree in Education/ Learning Design or equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience, of which at least 3 years' experience in designing and developing online and blended learning solutions required. These solutions may be a variety of instructional media, including face-to-face, synchronous and asynchronous online learning technologies, self-paced online learning, multimedia etc.
- Strong knowledge and experience in the implementation and management of online, blended learning (preferably in undergraduate and postgraduate courses or programmes of an Institute of Higher Learning) and MOOCs will be an advantage.
- Sound knowledge and experience in applying contemporary and emerging principles of learning/instructional design to online and blended learning, including all phases of the Instructional System Design (ISD) process or Analyse, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) model.
- Proficient in using relevant e-Authoring tools and graphic design tools, such as (but not limited to) Articulate, Canva etc.
- Curiosity and keen interest in the future of e-learning trends, Generative AI and evolving tools is advantageous.
- Extensive knowledge of online learning tools and media.
- Experience in videography and video-editing would be advantageous.
- Possesses good project management, resource management and people management skills.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent communications skills with a good command of both oral and written English.
- Excellent time management and ability to multi-task.
- A motivated, self-starter and team player who is resourceful and independent.
