Job Description
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts to ensure legal validity, regulatory compliance, and alignment with corporate strategy, safeguarding the company’s interests.
- Advise on optimal legal structures for project entities (e.g., joint ventures, SPVs) and ensure adherence to domestic and international laws.
- Manage international legal issues, including trade regulations, export controls, and multi-jurisdictional requirements.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual risks to prevent disputes and liabilities.
- Oversee the acquisition and renewal of licenses, permits, and regulatory approvals necessary for project execution.
- Lead dispute resolution and mediation efforts during contract implementation to achieve fair and efficient outcomes.
- Provide timely legal counsel to internal teams on contract matters and broader legal issues.
- Clearly communicate contractual obligations to stakeholders to ensure consistent understanding and compliance.
- Collaborate with project management, finance, procurement, and other departments to deliver integrated contract management.
- Conduct legal training sessions and briefings to raise awareness of key legal and compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of contracts, correspondence, and related documents.
- Manage relationships with external counsel, overseeing engagements on regulatory or complex legal matters.
- Supervise claims, arbitrations, and litigation connected to company projects.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures that reinforce legal governance in project delivery.
- Participate in ad hoc legal projects and special assignments as directed by senior management.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized university.
- At least 5 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house role, preferably within the construction sector.
- In-depth knowledge of Singapore’s construction laws, regulatory environment, and compliance frameworks.
- Exceptional contract drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills, with a commercial mindset and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
