Job Summary
This position is for a R&D mechanical design engineer. This person will be part of a core group of engineers that will be developing HP’s next generation of printing technology. This is an entry level engineering position that will initially have both design and experimentation responsibilities that will have defined scope. It is expected this individual has a firm grasp of basic mechanical engineering principles, fundamental understanding of materials and process development and can apply these to solving new problems. The focus of this position will be to develop the discipline of product design through mentorship and added responsibilities. This position is seeking someone who exercises independent judgment, shows creativity and is willing to stretch themselves in their own personal development.

Responsibilities
  • Design IPH pens that integrate the customer requirements along with the manufacturing considerations for R&D/proto line with the intent to transfer to a high-volume manufacturing line.
  • Designs components/subsystems using CAD
  • Partner across the R&D team to develop and execute test plans for designs, including validation of tolerances, form/fit/function, shock and vibration, safety, reliability, thermal generation, and system power measurements.
Integrates mechanical design requirements with material parameters and process requirements.
  • Develops relationships with both internal and outsourced development partners for mechanical and electrical hardware design.
  • Own components of an overall product through the development process including idea conception through prototyping and into production using HP’s product development processes.
  • Interface with HP teams in different geographical locations as needed during the design and development process. Teamwork and ability to collaborate and communicate ideas is critical.

Education & Experience Recommended
  • Four-year Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically has 0-2 years of work experience, preferably in engineering design and solutions, implementation across hardware development lifecycle, or a related field.
