Position Overview

Details of the Division and Team:

The Payroll Specialist is a key member of the payroll team ensuring the accurate and timely completion of the monthly payroll for Deutsche Bank Group and/or DWS companies in Singapore. The payroll team are responsible for the full spectrum of payroll processes, benefits administration, payroll-related accounts balance reconciliation, and various employment-related taxes and tax reporting.

Your key responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for expert support and service delivery for the Singapore payroll. Viewed as a payroll subject expert, you will have a key role leading the compliance, productivity and efficiency of the Singapore payroll

  • Process end to end monthly inhouse Singapore payroll utilizing knowledge of payroll and tax legislation with a high level of accuracy
  • Prepare manual payments outside the normal pay run for post pay payments i.e. payroll tax and manual termination payments
  • Validate and reconcile payroll data processing including the calculation of wages, deductions, and payment of employees’ wages
  • A dhere to payroll governance process and perform 4-eye checks (based on segregation on duties across the different team members)
  • Perform payroll accounting including the monthly postings and adjustments
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of payroll clearing accounts and general ledger related activities for submission to risk management
  • Prepare necessary activities to comply with employer’s obligation on leaver tax clearance and year-end tax reporting
  • Assist in maintaining key operating documents of all key payroll processes, with periodic reviews to ensure regulatory requirements and system changes are maintained
  • Liaising with payroll vendor in relation to system updates/ issues/ enhancements, raising tickets, user testing and confirming in production
  • Actively engage and participate in global and regional projects / initiative with value accreditation to the client and to the organization
  • Manages payroll queries from employees, managers and HR teams in a timely, and professional manner


Your skills and experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience working on Singapore payroll
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization/prioritization skills
  • Ability to analyze data and information thoroughly and complete reconciliations
  • Comfortable to work in a complex and matrix organization, with excellent teamwork and integrity
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Anticipate needs and demonstrate proactive initiative with a strong service and ownership mindset
  • Ability to maintain employee confidentiality at all times, able to work and use discretion with confidential information
  • Strong knowledge of local payroll laws, tax regulations and statutory requirements relevant to payroll matters
  • Working knowledge of SAP payroll and Workday system
  • Experience in Account Reconciliation
  • Good Excel, Word and PowerPoint; quick adaptability to systems, tools and processes
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
