About the Role
The Finance Operations Director will be a key regional finance leader responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of regional financial records, reporting, and operations for the organization. The role will involve financial oversight, business partnering, and integration activities as the company aligns its global finance function across regions. The position will work closely with key stakeholders in the USA on financial integration and take on leadership of the APAC finance team to serve as a finance business partner for the region.
As a key regional finance leader, the Finance Operations Director will oversee financial reporting, consolidation, compliance, and special projects to align financial operations across regions. The role requires a strong understanding of GAAP and IFRS principles, financial systems, internal controls, and reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial management, analysis, and integration within a multinational environment.
The role will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to drive financial efficiency, standardization, and strategic decision-making. This position demands a strategic mindset, strong leadership capabilities, and a hands-on approach to operational finance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and other relevant accounting standards such as local governmental reporting requirements.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Consolidate financial data from multiple business units or subsidiaries to present a comprehensive view of the organization’s regional financial position.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data through regular adherence to financial controls, audits and validations.
- Analyze financial statements and reports to identify trends, variances, and key performance indicators, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Prepare reports for internal management, external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, investors, and auditors.
Financial Compliance & Controls
- Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and monitor the effectiveness of control systems.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting requirements, and other statutory obligations across different jurisdictions.
- Coordinate and manage financial audits with external auditors, ensuring compliance with corporate governance and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve financial reporting processes.
- Ensure financial reports comply with relevant accounting principles and reporting requirements.
Business Partnering & Regional Leadership
- Act as the primary finance business partner to the APAC Managing Director and management of the APAC finance team, supporting financial planning, forecasting, and decision-making.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to the regional leadership team, helping to drive strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with business units to monitor budget performance and provide recommendations for adjustments.
- Drive alignment between global and regional financial processes, creating efficiencies and ensuring consistency in financial reporting and compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements across key APAC countries.
- Communicate relevant APAC financial laws and regulatory requirements effectively to the USA finance leadership team, ensuring alignment in financial strategy and risk management.
Integration & Special Projects
- Lead finance integration efforts, aligning processes, systems, and reporting structures.
- Work closely with the corporate finance team in the USA during the initial integration phase, ensuring smooth financial transitions.
- Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of financial software and systems that support efficient financial operations.
- Support global transformation initiatives related to finance, including automation, standardization, and process improvement.
- Manage cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity and efficient allocation of resources.
- Other duties as required.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree (or international equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in financial reporting, consolidation, compliance, and financial analysis within a multinational environment.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including GAAP and IFRS compliance.
- Proven experience in leading finance teams, business partnering, and managing financial operations in multiple regions.
- Experience in finance integration across regions and process harmonization.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills and strong ability to build relationships across an organization.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a hands-on approach.
- Bi / Multi-lingual would be an advantage.
Additional Information:
- This role will report to senior finance leadership and the Managing Director Agilysys APAC and will play a critical role in the alignment of financial operations between the USA and APAC regions.
- The role involves significant collaboration across different business units and regions, requiring a high level of adaptability and problem-solving skills.
