PRIMARY FUNCTION:
- Provide inputs and guidance in facility, process, and/or equipment design reviews for safety & environmental considerations
- Interact with Singapore agencies on chemicals permits and licenses application and renewal.
- Coordinates with various R&D sites, manufacturing plant and regional EHS management systems to ensure compliance with Singapore EHS regulations, Abbott internal policies and procedures.
- Support and maintain continual improvement and meet corporate KPIs for EHS statistics.
- Maintain and coordinate routine EHS activities, such as industrial hygiene monitoring, waste disposal, recycling, safety inspections, safety induction trainings, healthy lifestyle activities, etc.
- Provide information to internal customers on safety, security & environmental priorities and risks, performance and interpretation of regulatory requirements
- Support coordination of all security activities and functions in accordance with Abbott policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement and/or maintenance of plant and R&D sites EHS standard operating procedures.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interact with local authorities e.g. National Environment Agency, Singapore Civil Defense Force, Singapore Police Force all Permits and Licenses application and renewal for Product Development labs.
- Coordinate the application and issuance of Abbott and/or Biopolis card for new hires
- Provide assistance in the asset disposal process through the issuance of gate pass
- Maintenance of site-specific Emergency Response Plan as well as EHS SOPs per corporate policy or local regulatory requirements.
- Participate in Plant monthly EHS meeting and inspection, provide updates to R&D on weekly / monthly basis
- Coordinate with chemical waste collection vendor to facilitate toxic waste disposal.
- Update Global EHS systems on waste quantity, water & energy usage quarterly.
- Conduct lock out tag (LOTO) and machine guarding assessment
- Coordinate industrial hygiene monitoring program with Global EHS expert and implement changes, where necessary.
- Conduct EHS risk assessment.
- Conduct EHS incident investigations with impacted personnel and manager/department head.
- Monitor implementation of EHS long range plan and ensure compliance.
- Review new chemical requests from Product Development labs
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor Degree in Occupational Health & Safety; Environmental Science; Engineering or related disciplines
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant EHS experience in large-scale manufacturing operations, preferably in pharmaceutical/nutrition industry
- Knowledgeable of policies and procedures associated with compliance with Singapore as well as Asia safety and environmental regulations and Corporate EHS standards.
- Ability to communicate clearly with employees at all levels.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional as well as plant wide teams to motivate and develop strong safety and environmental awareness in all employees.
- Registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer with Singapore Ministry of Manpower
- Hands-on experience in interfacing between functional departments and external parties / government bodies
