Business Development Executive (Law Firm)

Job description
Working in the business development department and reporting to the Business Development Manager, the role will principally cover:
1. Pitches and proposals
- Assisting with preparing pitches and proposals. Award submission
- To assist with preparing award submissions. Marketing Literature
- To assist with Business Development presentations.
- Profile sheets and CVs
- Creating, amending and updating profile sheets/CVs.
- Liaising with BD Manager, fee earners, secretaries etc
2. Legal Directories (Legal 500/Chambers)
- Dealing with directory submissions, ensuring deadlines for entry are met and all the relevant information is supplied.
- Drafting submissions and preparing referee spreadsheets for each submission.
- Co-ordinating research interviews - liaising with the partners and the external researchers, building good relationships, providing the partners with all the necessary/relevant information, dealing with queries and last minute requests for information, scheduling/rescheduling appointments, booking rooms and conference calls.
3. Intranet (QUEST), CRM system (InterAction)
- Creating, managing and quality controlling marketing lists via the firm's CRM system (InterAction) for BD activities, such as newsletter mailshots and event invitations.
- Uploading to and searching on SHED (SH's experience database).
4. Events
- Organising and managing events from start to finish on behalf of practice areas, including client seminars and social events both in Singapore and internationally.
- Managing sponsorships and partnerships. Public relations and communications
- Assisting with media monitoring and collating press coverage.
- Managing press information going on to the website, QUEST and newsletters.
- Drafting press releases.
- Assisting with preparing briefing notes and the distribution of materials.
5. General BD team co-ordination and support
- Conduct research on existing and prospective clients, competitor's activity and industry or regionals trends.
- Stay attuned to news and business developments that may impact the practice/industry and apply that knowledge to identify opportunities for promoting the firm.
6. International Offices
- Ensuring marketing literature is distributed to the international offices as and when required.
- Assisting international BD teams with requests for information and marketing literature. Working closely with international BD teams and ensuring they are kept up-to-date with upcoming projects
Person specification
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Excellent team worker and able to work well within a job share capacity.
- Good work ethic and focussed.
- Initiative to solve problems and a 'can do' attitude with a mature outlook.
- Strong organisational and multi-tasking skills – ability to prioritise and execute a variety of tasks and to manage own quality of work and deadlines quickly and accurately.
- Strong attention to detail.
- 'Front-of-house' skills – a good ambassador for the team and the firm who demonstrates tact, sensitivity and helpfulness when dealing with calls, queries and external visitors.
- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Patient, calm, positive, flexible, reliable, resilient and outgoing.
- Good literacy skills.
- Flexibility of working outside normal office hours where necessary.
- Looking for a career in Business Development.
- A university degree in marketing and at least 2 to 3 years of experience in an international law firm. Additional language skills and overseas exposure is an advantage
