New Life Stories is committed to supporting families impacted by incarceration through restorative practice. We believe in the power of storytelling and strategic communications to shift mindsets, build empathy, and foster systemic change.

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic, creative, and purpose-driven Communications Specialist to execute our communications efforts. You will work on content development across multiple platforms — including social media, eDMs and our website — to strengthen NLS visibility and engagement.

In this role, the candidate will be part of and work collaboratively with the Advocacy and Partnership Engagement team to develop and implement communication strategies to broaden the impact of New Life Stories programs and amplify the voices of families we support and build broader public understanding of the issues we tackle.

Key Responsibilities

Create, manage, and curate compelling content across digital platforms, NLS website and newsletter to drive awareness and engagement.

Execute integrated communication strategies that enhance NLS reach, relevance, and resonance.

Support media outreach and ensure clear, cohesive messaging across all channels and materials.

What We’re Looking For Candidate with the following:

Proven experience in communication

Some experience in integrated communications.

Exceptional writing and editing skills

Some visual content creation skills.

Familiarity with website content management, email marketing tools, and analytics dashboards (e.g., SquareSpace, Mailchimp, Google Analytics) is preferred.

Passion for social impact and building community through storytelling.

Salary Range
$2500 to $3500 depending on experience
