CTO (AI Infra / DePIN Ecosystems)

BlockDelta is proud to collaborate with a visionary team pioneering the worlds first programmable-bandwidth supernetwork. As they scale their operations, they are looking to hire a CTO to architect, scale, and lead the development of this groundbreaking infrastructure.

Ideal Candidate

As CTO, you will design and build the core infrastructure for a global technology company, shaping the next-generation data stack powering the machine economy. Youll lead the scaling of a network built to support millions of connected devices. You think holistically about complex systems, have a passion for building, and bring a track record of excellence working with cutting-edge AI, Web3 technologies, and top-tier teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a cohesive roadmap covering infrastructure, data, and scalability, ensuring alignment with the companys vision and the dynamic B2B Demand Pipeline of the company.
• Identify emerging trends such as AI advancements, large-scale data applications, DePIN, and programmable bandwidth; initiate proof-of-concept projects as needed, and transition successful initiatives into scalable, production-grade solutions.
• Choose and oversee technology partners across cloud services, GPU hardware, and open-source Web3 platforms to optimize operational efficiency while managing costs effectively.
• Architect and thoroughly document a highly resilient, scalable network and infrastructure designed to seamlessly expand from zero to millions of connected devices, ensuring continuous high availability and robust B2B data scraping capabilities.
• Manage a data pipeline at petabyte scale, handling ingestion, storage, and delivery of both real-time streams and batch data with optimal cost-efficiency.
• Establish core operational systems including monitoring, observability, and automated deployment processes to enable smooth, scalable growth without interruptions.
• Develop and enforce the cloud or hybrid deployment strategy, balancing cost-effectiveness and compliance requirements, while approving technology stack and architectural patterns such as programming languages, microservices, databases, and caching solutions.
• Recruit, motivate, and develop a diverse team of experts across backend development, data engineering, DevOps, and related disciplines.
• Foster a Lean and Agile work environment by implementing consistent rituals, defining clear KPIs and OKRs, and promoting a disciplined, reliable delivery process.
• Standardize the software development lifecycle through continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), automated testing, and quality control measures, while managing key production metrics such as SLOs and MTTR.
• Manage budgeting, total cost of ownership, and team skill development in close alignment with the strategic roadmap.
• Collaborate closely with Sales and Data teams to convert customer demands into detailed technical specifications (including formats, SLAs, and integrations) that ensure both competitive advantage in deals and sustainable long-term support.
• Lead an ongoing research and development cycle by investigating, prototyping, and evaluating innovative methods and tools (such as scraping, data compression, and delivery), then integrating successful solutions into the product roadmap.
• Focus on high-impact initiatives by evaluating options based on ROI, choosing those that offer the greatest business value relative to complexity and implementation time to minimize unit costs and accelerate time-to-value.
• Establish the companys reputation as a market leader by creating and sharing thought leadership content such as LinkedIn and Twitter articles, research reports, videos, and keynote presentations.
• Leverage your proven track record and extensive network to enhance the companys credibility, attracting top-tier talent, strategic collaborators, and new investment opportunities.
• Act as the main technical liaison for investors by participating in high-level VC discussions, conducting thorough deep-dive sessions, and delivering clear, well-structured due diligence technology documentation.
• Ensure full compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other data protection regulations throughout the companys worldwide residential IP network.
• Integrate security principles from the ground up by conducting regular audits, ongoing penetration testing, threat modeling, and maintaining comprehensive disaster recovery documentation.
• Conduct frequent disaster recovery exercises to validate and update the business continuity plan, keeping it effective and up-to-date.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Over 15 years in engineering, including more than 3 years in strategic leadership roles such as CTO, founder, or senior technical lead within top-tier infrastructure startups or infrastructure-centric organizations
• Proven experience delivering and scaling infrastructure-intensive platforms supporting hundreds of thousands, preferably millions, of users or connected devices
• Expert in systems architecture, distributed systems, and building robust data processing pipelines
• Extensive knowledge of contemporary cloud infrastructure, storage solutions, DevOps practices, and managing unit economics at scale
• Demonstrated success in recruiting, mentoring, and leading senior engineering teams
• Exceptional technical decision-making skills: able to act quickly while applying innovative, out-of-the-box thinking
• Confident in presenting technical topics during VC meetings, investor Q&A sessions, and public tech talks
• Bonus points for experience or familiarity with AI infrastructure, Web3 technologies, residential IP networking, proxy service providers, or DePIN ecosystems
