Job Summary: The Cafe Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the cafe, managing staff, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining the cafe’s cleanliness and overall ambiance. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to ensure the cafe operates smoothly, providing a positive experience for customers and maximizing profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Supervision: Manage, train, and motivate cafe staff, ensuring they meet performance standards and provide excellent customer service.
    Assign tasks and monitor staff throughout their shifts to ensure efficient operations.
    Conduct staff performance evaluations and provide feedback to support professional development.
    Ensure the cafe is properly staffed during peak hours and adjust shifts as needed.
  • Customer Service: Greet customers in a friendly, welcoming manner, addressing any concerns or complaints promptly.
    Ensure that all customers are satisfied with their experience and maintain a high level of service quality.
    Encourage customer loyalty and positive reviews through excellent service and engagement.
  • Operations Management: Oversee daily cafe operations, including managing opening and closing procedures.
    Ensure all food and beverages are prepared to quality standards and served in a timely manner.
    Monitor stock levels of food, beverages, and supplies, placing orders when necessary to avoid shortages.
    Ensure the cafe environment is clean, organized, and safe for both staff and customers.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment by adhering to food safety standards, including proper handling of food and cleaning procedures.
    Ensure staff follows all health and safety regulations and guidelines in their daily tasks.
    Ensure compliance with local health department regulations.
  • Financial and Inventory Management: Monitor daily sales, cash handling, and register operations, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
    Assist in managing the budget and ensuring the cafe operates within financial targets.
    Track inventory levels and control costs through efficient ordering and usage to minimize waste.
  • Training and Development: Conduct ongoing training for new and existing employees, focusing on customer service, food preparation, and health & safety standards.
    Stay up-to-date on new products, promotions, and procedures to pass on to staff.
  • Marketing and Promotions: Assist in developing and executing promotional strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
    Implement marketing strategies and social media promotions to increase cafe visibility and sales.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent; additional education in hospitality or business management is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably in a cafe or restaurant setting.
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage preparation, customer service, and health regulations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic financial skills, including cash handling and inventory management.
