Kitchen Assistant

Job Summary:

The Kitchen Assistant supports the kitchen team in food preparation, basic cooking, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards. This role is essential in ensuring smooth kitchen operations and delivering high-quality food service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation (e.g. washing, peeling, chopping ingredients)
• Prepare simple dishes such as salads, sandwiches, or side items
• Set up and restock workstations and food prep areas
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas according to health and safety standards
• Receive, check, and store deliveries of food supplies
• Dispose of waste and manage recycling according to guidelines
• Help with plating and garnishing dishes during service
• Follow all kitchen safety and hygiene regulations
• Perform other ad-hoc tasks assigned by the Head Chef or Supervisor

Requirements:

• No formal qualifications required, but basic food handling knowledge is an advantage
• Previous experience in a kitchen or F&B environment is preferred
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Good team player with a positive attitude
• Physically fit to stand for long hours and perform manual tasks
• Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required
