RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Manager, Compliance, he/she will play a pivotal role in planning and implementing the Compliance and Governance initiatives and programmes to ensure good governance in the organisation.

Job Responsibilities:

Governance & Compliance

  • Plan and oversee the organisation compliance framework, ensuring policies are practical, up-to-date, and aligned with sector standards and legal obligations.
  • Identify key risk areas and work with teams to address gaps and implement controls. Maintain Risk
  • Register Provide guidance to senior management on emerging compliance and governance matters.

Data Protection Officer (DPO)

  • Serve as Data Protection Officer, responsible for compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
  • Review and maintain data protection policies, processes, and incident response protocols.
  • Work with technology service (TS) and relevant teams to implement data security measures such as access controls, data sharing protocols, and encryption where needed.
  • Lead training efforts and respond to staff queries on data protection matters.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with internal departments to ensure governance and compliance measures are practical and well understood.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors to ensure their practices align with Montfort Care expectations, especially where personal data is involved.

Training & Awareness

  • Develop and roll out communication plans to build awareness of compliance responsibilities across all levels of staff.
  • Design resources and lead sessions to strengthen understanding of governance principles.
  • Conduct training for new hires and refresh training for current incumbents

Audit & Reporting

  • Conduct audits to ensure adherence to governance standards including data governance and corrective actions implemented as needed
  • Track and report compliance activities and findings to the management and the board where appropriate.
  • Prepare each team for audits

Developments and Certifications

  • Monitor developments in legislation and sector trends, and ensure our practices stay relevant.
  • Review and refresh policies and workflows as needed to reflect changes in the operating environment.
  • Review certifications available and strive to attain and maintain relevant certifications in respective governance areas eg: DPTM, Charity Transparency Award (CTA), ESG Excellence Award

Team Management

  • Lead and manage a team (if required), providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high performance and professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, Governance, or a related field. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is a plus.
OTHER INFORMATION

Relevant Experience

  • 5 years of experience in a compliance or data governance, preferably within the non-profit sector or organizations
  • Familiarity with data protection regulations and experience in coordinating with vendors is highly advantageous

Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of corporate and data governance principles, and regulatory requirements related to non-profit organizations
  • Adaptable and open to change, capable of navigating evolving regulatory environments, emerging sustainability trends, and addressing unexpected challenges.
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Good stakeholder engagement and management, actively seeking inputs from various stakeholders, and fostering positive relationships with employees and external partners
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills with the capability to synthesize complex information and make data-driven recommendations
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access) and data analysis too
