Responsibilities

  • Requirements
    • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Library Science, Information Management, or related field); a Master’s in Library and Information Science is preferred.
    • IB Knowledge: Familiarity with IBDP frameworks, including Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge components.
    • Research Skills: Strong knowledge of academic research methodologies and citation styles (APA, MLA).
    • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
    • Technological Proficiency: Experience with library management systems and digital research tools.
    • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
    • Experience: Prior experience working with secondary or international school students, preferably in an IB environment.
Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Guidance During SSP (Self Study Period)
  • Monitor IBDP students during SSP to ensure they remain academically engaged.
  • Provide one-on-one assistance with research, essay writing, and project planning.
  • Research and Academic Support:
  • Assist students with literature searches, database usage, and resource management.
  • Guide students through the IB’s expectations for academic honesty, citation, and referencing.
  • Workshops and Academic Sessions:
  • Conduct mini-workshops on effective research techniques, citation tools, and online databases.
  • Organize reading and research challenges to keep students motivated and engaged.
  • Resource Management and Collaboration:
  • Work closely with IBDP teachers and the EE/TOK supervisors to align library resources with curriculum requirements.
  • Update and manage subject-specific reading lists and research materials.
