General Area of Responsibility

  • Oversee all matters pertaining to dry equipment planning and reporting and to ensure cost efficiency in different aspects of the logistics flow.

Specific Areas of Responsibility

(A) Dry Equipment Distribution Duties

1. Plan and arrange empty repositioning, new-builts and leasing specials to places of demand – Asia and other locations

2. Monitoring of equipment in Asia ports to ensure good turn time as well as to reallocate surplus equipment to demand areas in Asia

3. Work closely with planners to ensure optimum utilization of space for our empty repositioning plans for empty equipment and to distribution of these equipment on board MSC Vessels

4. Monitor and control stock on hand to minimize terminal and depot storage costs.

5. Coordinate with yard planners at PSA and Transhipment Departments fm Singapore or Tg Pelepas to ensure dry equipment are nominated onto vessels with their respective port of discharge before cut-off time

6. Monitor the variance between equipment forecast and actual loading figure.

7. Understand the capability and limitation of every South-East Asia ports so as to facilitate planning.

8. Preparation of reports for MSC GVA pertaining to empty equipment

9. Adhere to instructions by Geneva to move special equipment to the various locations outside of Asia.

(B) Misuse, Sublease and Free-use Duties

  • Responsible on approval for all aspects relating to Subleasing and Mis-use retrieval/returns of equipment with carriers and other 3rd party operators.

2. Review and assessment of Subleasing agreements

3. Weekly follow up on outstanding cases to ensure prompt retrieval and redelivery of equipment as well as ensuring EDI movements are updated accurately/promptly.

(C) S.E.A Depot Contracts Assessment/Renewal Duties

1. Assistance to Managers on depot contracts and renewal in accordance/adhere with MSC Supplier Selection Framework.

  • Assess requirements with MSC Agencies Logistics Team on Vendors’ service capability, review of scorecard for contracts renewal and/or new vendor approval.
  • Review and propose supplier recommendation based on a defined selection criterion.

(D) Land and Logistics Income and Expenses Duties

  • Review cost data and proactively seek out cost reductions initiatives with respective agencies. In tandem with targets and historical performances

Other General Duties

1. To disseminate MSC GVA’s instructions to Far East agents and ensure agents execute them accordingly.

2. Prepare any ad hoc reports for management as requested.

Pre-requisites:

  • Diploma / Degree Diploma in Logistics Management, or its equivalent
  • At least 1-2 years of relevant working experience in preferably Container Shipping industry
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Team player with a positive working attitude
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to start work immediately or within a short notice an added advantage
