Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on and resourceful Supply Chain Manager to oversee procurement, inventory management, and supply chain planning for our growing FMCG business. This role involves around procurement strategy and policies, budget control and supplier relationship building. This is a strategic and operational role suited for someone who thrives in a dynamic, lean environment and is capable of building efficient procurement and planning processes from end to end.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Planning
- Analyse inventory levels of products across different locations to determine future inventory demand and needs.
- Identify and develop a network of suppliers for required goods and services, ensuring they meet company’s cost, quality, and delivery standards.
- Conduct market research to understand product availability, technologies, pricing trends, and emerging suppliers to ensure company gain a competitive edge and reduce procurement costs.
- Understand supplier capabilities, resources, and limitations to ensure sufficient production capacity and volume to meet sales requirements.
- Develop annual procurement implementation plan and ensure alignment with company’s overall strategies and operational activities.
Supplier Management
- Establish and maintain good relationships with suppliers, operate with integrity, and serve as the main contact person for resolving supplier related issues and disputes.
- Evaluate suppliers’ performance periodically based on Supplier Performance Matrix and initiate discussion with suppliers to drive improvement program.
- Support Product Development Team to negotiate with Suppliers on pricing, terms, and conditions to secure the best possible value without compromising on quality or delivery timelines.
Cross Departmental Collaboration
- Support sales department to optimise inventory levels, prevent overstocking or shortages, and ensure procurement aligns with demand forecasts and emerging on-ground situations.
- Work with manufacturing and logistics to ensure smooth flow and timely delivery of products.
Continuous Improvement Program
- Suggest cost-saving initiatives based on cost analysis on products and services.
- Evaluate how supplier factory processes can be enhanced based on feedback.
- Review outcomes using available records and information to determine effectiveness of work processes and procedures.
- Identify potential risks in supply chain and propose contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.
Requirements
Educational Background
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Marketing, or similar discipline.
- At least 8 years of experience in procurement and proven track record of managing supplier relationships.
- Demonstrated success in negotiating contracts and securing cost-effective deals while ensuring high quality of products and delivery standards.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills, able to secure most suitable deals with sellers in company’s interests.
- Good interpersonal and management skills.
- Proficient in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as Oracle Netsuite.
- Experienced in Microsoft Excel for cost analysis, reporting, and data tracking.
- Ability to forecast, multitask, and work cross-functionally.
- Comfortable in both strategy and hands-on execution.
- Experience in wholesale trade, manufacturing, or retail industries is highly preferred.
