The Global KYC Transformation Program Manager is responsible for driving the standardization and optimization of our KYC processes. This role involves collaborating with global teams and other relevant departments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while enhancing operational efficiency. The Program Manager will directly report to the Head of Global KYC Strategy Office based in Tokyo and locally to the Regional Head of Middle Office.

Purpose of Role

  • The purpose of the role is to drive and oversee the successful implementation of MUFG’S Global KYC Operations transformation program within the APAC region, ensuring alignment with global strategies and fostering effective collaboration with teams across different regions to achieve operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
  • The Program Manager will act as a catalyst to drive changes throughout the bank to establish a best-in-class KYC organization, setting up a new Target Operating Model (TOM) and enhancing our processes with the latest technology.

Main Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Design and implement strategies for various KYC projects, including:
    APAC implementation plan of new APAC Target Operating Model (e.g. 1Client-1KYC model)
    Implement Governance structure established as part of the global Transformation Program, including establishment of Regional KYC Office
    Contribute to the enhancement of KYC systems, tools, and technology
    Identify and propose solutions for Business process re-engineering, standardization, and optimization
    Implement global Talent development and change management initiatives into APAC
  • Work with Global KYC Leadership team, Regional Heads, and Branches to establish regional KYC strategy and roadmap.
  • Identify deliverables, timelines, and requirements for each project. Establish consensus among a wide range of stakeholders and solving conflicting views.
  • Implement a robust project management structure and maintain project documentation that meets global Transformation program governance global audit standards.
  • Manage the delivery of multiple complex projects simultaneously, monitoring progress, dependencies between projects, and ensuring timely completion.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Establish project governance and chair project committees at various levels (e.g. SteerCo, OpCos, Working Groups at regional level) as the decision-making body for the program.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders from Front office, KYC, Compliance, Technology, etc. at regional and global levels to ensure smooth communication and synchronization of actions.
  • Ensure project stakeholders are informed of project status and ensure issues are escalated in a timely manner.

Operational Excellence:

  • Apply business transformation and KYC subject matter expert knowledge to create a platform to maximize productivity while strengthening control environment.
  • Ensure efficiency, accuracy, and completeness of operations by producing better business frameworks.
  • Conduct business analysis for MUFG’s APAC Branches and identify areas for improvement accordingly

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 12 years work experience in strategic project management (preferable for large transformation programs) within a complex matrix structure.
  • Proven track record of managing large KYC / AML projects and programs across multiple locations.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in stakeholder management such as conflict resolution, consensus building skills, and an ability to build partnerships and influence beyond area of responsibility.
  • Experience in managing multiple complex projects and competing priorities, completing milestones, and working toward multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Possess exceptional organizational skills, demonstrating a structured and logical approach to tasks.
  • Experience in driving process improvements by using tools such as process mapping and design, data analysis and automation.
  • Bachelor’s degree and above. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
