Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Operator to join our operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution of physical oil or gas trades, including scheduling, shipping coordination, and ensuring the fulfillment of all commercial and contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate cargo movements and vessel operations from loading to final delivery.
  • Issue voyage instructions and liaise with terminals, shipowners, inspectors, and port agents.
  • Prepare, review, and manage all operational documentation (BLs, invoices, certificates, etc).
  • Monitor and calculate laytime, manage demurrage exposure, and settle claims efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade laws, sanctions, and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with traders, schedulers, and finance teams to optimize trade economics and cash flow.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and voyage reports for internal tracking and audit purposes

1. Contract Execution & Management

  • Ensure accurate execution of sales, purchase, and transportation contracts.
  • Monitor terms and conditions (e.g., pricing, quantity, quality, delivery dates).
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure all contractual obligations are met

2. Cargo Scheduling & Logistics Coordination

  • Schedule loading and discharge of cargoes.
  • Liaise with terminals, vessel owners, shipbrokers, and logistics teams.
  • Prepare and manage shipping and delivery documentation (B/Ls, COAs, Demurrage, etc)

3. Operational Communication

  • Act as the point of contact between traders, suppliers, buyers, and shipping agents.
  • Communicate voyage and cargo instructions to all involved parties.
  • Handle real-time problem-solving during voyages or operations (e.g., delays, quality disputes)

4. Demurrage & Claims Handling

  • Monitor laytime and port activities to minimize exposure to demurrage.
  • Calculate, prepare, and resolve demurrage or deviation claims.
  • Coordinate with legal and contracts teams on disputes or claims

5. Documentation & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all international trade, customs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with finance and trade compliance teams for invoicing and documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate operational records and voyage reports.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Degree or Diploma in Maritime Studies, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in oil & gas operations or shipping logistics (physical trading environment preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Incoterms, contract structures, and demurrage processes.
  • Proficiency in commercial and operational tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple cargoes or voyages simultaneously.
  • Familiar with international marine regulations and trading compliance.
