Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer with strong experience in IBM DB2 (LUW and/or z/OS) environments to join our data engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining robust, high-performance, and secure data pipelines and database systems that support business analytics and application needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes leveraging IBM DB2 and related technologies.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and patch DB2 database systems (LUW and/or z/OS) to ensure stability and performance.
  • Perform detailed SQL query analysis, indexing, and tuning to support fast, scalable data access.
  • Build and maintain data models, schemas, and structures optimized for both transactional and analytical workloads.
  • Implement backup, recovery, and high availability solutions using DB2 native tools and/or third-party platforms.
  • Ensure data integrity and implement security and access controls in line with organizational compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with application developers, analysts, and data scientists to understand data needs and optimize integration strategies.
  • Monitor performance and reliability using tools such as IBM Data Studio, Tivoli, or other monitoring platforms.
  • Participate in data migration, replication, and real-time data integration efforts across platforms.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation of data environments.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation on configurations, pipelines, standards, and procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong hands-on experience with IBM DB2 (LUW and/or z/OS) in large-scale data environments.
  • Proficiency in SQL performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
  • Experience in data modeling, database normalization, and schema design.
  • Familiarity with HADR, replication, clustering, and data synchronization techniques.
  • A good understanding of data integration tools and real-time streaming architecture is a plus.
  • Exposure to DevOps tools, Infrastructure as Code, or automation frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) is an advantage.
  • Experience working on Unix/Linux/AIX/Windows platforms and integrating them with database systems.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
