Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Ability to communicate in Urdu or Bengali or Sinhalese fluently to identify abuse trends and communicate with stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or Nepal market with the knowledge of contexts and tests.
  • Ability to build relationships with cross-functional partners across geographies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to drive strategy and business action.

Whether understanding and solving their online content concerns, navigating within global legal frameworks, or writing and enforcing worldwide policy, the Trust & Safety team is on the frontlines of enhancing the YouTube experience, building internet safety, and protecting free speech in our ever-evolving digital world.

In this role, you will be supporting the South Asian Frontier market. You will be responsible for ensuring that we are growing understanding of regional and local trends and risks on YouTube. You will monitor trends and intelligence sources, help to launch new product features with market and language knowledge and ensure enforcement guidelines are informed by your market knowledge. You will have an understanding of the socio-economic, environmental, and governance landscapes of frontier markets (e.g., Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal), and the ability to translate global responsibility standards into local strategies. You will help implement and enforce policies across content videos, as well as define and implement operational plans globally, liaising and working with stakeholders in areas like Product Management, Engineering, Vendor Operations, Analytics, Public Policy, Public Relation, Partnerships and Legal. You will work with various internal teams to identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor risks and opportunities related to responsible business conduct. Responsibilities

  • Monitor intel sources, work with cross-functional teams, and leverage native market expertise to identify key abuse trends in the South Asian frontier markets (e.g., Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal).
  • Monitor emerging sensitive events, and highlight risks to the YouTube ecosystem and Trust and Safety, across any of the following markets (e.g., Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal).
  • Speak Urdu/Bengali/Sinhalese and English fluently in order to identify and propose policy improvements based on market nuances, and support language detection, automation, language quality improvements, and local product launches.
  • Support identification of external partners across Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.
  • Triage threats, prepare risk assessments, and action plans based on market knowledge, including regional events and escalations, and act as the point of contact.
