Nutrition & Food Science Teachers' Aide

Location: Jurong West

Deployment Days & Hours: Monday to Thursday: 7.30am to 5.00pm | Friday: 7.30am to 4.30pm

Job scope:

1. Prepare of materials for cookery lessons, practical and examinations as instructed by NFS teachers.

2. Able to manage the preparation of ingredients for lessons such as the cutting, weighing and packing of ingredients prior to lesson.

3. Able to operate some of the kitchen and food science appliances & equipments such as handheld blender, electric steamer, rice cooker, refractometer etc.

4. Perform general cleaning of kitchens including cleaning table tops, sinks, cookers, sweeping and mopping of the floor and emptying dustbins.

5. Check the cutlery and ensure equipment are in place.

6. Always Assist teachers during lessons (excluding lunch time & scheduled breaks).

7. Perform any other duties related to the maintenance of the NFS room & the equipment and utensils.

8. Assist to order food items required for NFS practicals as and when required.

9. Filing and compilation of cookery and Pie room documents (e.g. resources, inventory for equipment and food ordering etc).

Requirements:

• Possess at least GCE ‘O’ level qualification.
• Has 2 years of working experience in similar position or has prior experience in culinary/ food handling.
• Certification in food hygiene would be an advantage.
• Knowledge in Microsoft application such as Microsoft word & Excel.
• Organised, meticulous & the ability to multitask and work independently in the cookery rooms.
• With good interpersonal communication skills and patient in guiding students.
