Job Overview:
The Assistant Softline Lab Manager supports the efficient operation of Singapore Softline laboratory. The incumbent will drive the team to meet business goals and budgets, uphold global testing standards, and foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and 5S discipline. Candidates hired for Senior or Supervisor roles will be given opportunities for development and training towards Manager-level responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership
• Monitor the Singapore lab team to ensure adherence to operating plans, goals and budgets.
  • Perform weekly Gemba walks to identify near‑hit possibilities and verify 5S implementation.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and calibration schedules to guarantee test integrity.


Quality & Compliance
• Ensure all testing follows globally approved methods; review and disseminate any new or updated protocols.
  • Review test reports prepared by 1st Reviewers, and check/approve flammability results within the DDE system.
  • Assess internal and external correlation data to validate and improve test accuracy.
  • Evaluate client‑provided methods and recommend appropriate tests where applicable.


Training & Development
• Design and conduct training programmes for technical and non‑technical staff on lab processes, equipment use, and quality systems.
  • Mentor team members to build technical competence and promote best practices.


Recruitment & Technical Support
• Conduct interviews and participate in selection for new lab personnel.
  • Provide expert technical advice to customers—both verbally and via email—to address enquiries and resolve issues promptly.


Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
• Collaborate with the QA team to implement and monitor HSE initiatives within the lab.


Others
• Perform any other duties as assigned.



Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technology (Textile and Apparel), Chemistry or related field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a laboratory management role, preferably in a testing or research environment
  • Experience in the textile and apparel industry is highly desirable
  • Proactive and results-oriented with a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Strong adherence to safety protocols and a commitment to fostering a safe working environment
