Job Description:

A Food Processing Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing systems and processes used in the production, preservation, and packaging of food products. This role focuses on applying engineering principles to improve food safety, efficiency, quality, and sustainability in food manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Design & Optimization:
    Design, implement, and optimize food manufacturing processes and equipment.
    Develop scalable processing systems for new and existing products.
    Improve energy efficiency, production throughput, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Equipment & Technology Integration:
    Specify and oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of food processing equipment.
    Collaborate with automation engineers to integrate smart systems (e.g., PLCs, SCADA).
  • Quality & Safety Assurance:
    Ensure processes comply with food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP, FSMA).
    Work closely with quality assurance teams to monitor critical control points (CCPs).
  • Project Management:
    Lead technical projects related to process improvement, expansion, or new product introductions.
    Develop and manage budgets, timelines, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Sustainability & Innovation:
    Investigate and implement sustainable processing technologies.
    Research novel preservation, pasteurization, and sterilization methods.
  • Troubleshooting & Support:
    Analyze and resolve technical problems in manufacturing systems.
    Provide engineering support to operations and maintenance teams.
