Job Coach (Horticulture Programme)

Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide individualized support and guidance to trainees with moderate autism in horticultural activities at the SAAC Horticulture Farm.
2. Collaborate with the vendor and industry experts to develop and implement horticulture-related training programs tailored to the abilities and interests of the trainees.
3. Work alongside trainees to ensure the successful cultivation and maintenance of horticultural produce, while promoting a supportive and structured work environment.
4. Assist in the management of farm infrastructure and equipment, ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.
5. Regularly assess trainees' progress and provide feedback to the vendor and relevant stakeholders.
6. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration among trainees and colleagues.
7. Provide ongoing support and encouragement to trainees, helping them develop essential vocational skills and confidence in their work.
8. Plan and execute day to day trainee’s schedule
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Possess minimally a recognised diploma.
2. Proven experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities, preferably in a vocational training or supported employment setting.
3. Strong understanding of horticulture and experience in agricultural or horticultural practices is desirable.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with individuals with special needs.
5. Ability to adapt to the unique needs and learning styles of each trainee, providing personalized support and guidance.
6. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for empowering individuals with autism to achieve their vocational goals.
7. Certification in job coaching, vocational training, or related fields is a plus.
