Key Role:

To plan, execute, supervise, and ensure the quality of painting and coating works for buildings, ensuring compliance with specifications, timelines, and safety standards.




Roles & Responsibilities


1. Project Planning & Preparation

  • Review project scope, specifications, and drawings related to painting and waterproofing works.
  • Prepare detailed work schedules, manpower planning, and material requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to align painting activities with the overall construction program.


2. Site Supervision & Execution

  • Supervise all on-site painting and coating works (internal and external).
  • Ensure surface preparation (cleaning, patching, plastering) is done to standards before painting.
  • Monitor application methods (spraying, brushing, rolling) for uniform finish and coverage.
  • Conduct daily site inspections and progress tracking.


3. Quality Assurance & Control

  • Ensure all painting works meet the specified standards, colour consistency, and finish quality.
  • Conduct wet film thickness (WFT) and dry film thickness (DFT) checks as required.
  • Attend and conduct inspections with consultants, clients, or MCST representatives.
  • Raise and follow up on NCRs (non-conformance reports), if applicable.


4. Material & Vendor Coordination

  • Coordinate with paint suppliers (e.g., Nippon, Dulux, Jotun) for delivery, product specifications, and warranties.
  • Verify batch numbers, shelf-life, and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) of products used.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of paints and chemicals on-site.


5. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure safe working practices during painting activities (e.g., scaffolding, rope access, confined spaces).
  • Ensure painters use proper PPE and work under approved safety protocols.
  • Implement measures to control VOC emissions, paint spills, and environmental hazards.


6. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily site records, progress reports, inspection checklists, and material usage logs.
  • Prepare method statements, risk assessments, and QA/QC reports related to painting.
  • Support in the preparation of progress claims and variation orders.


7. Client & Consultant Interface

  • Attend site coordination meetings, site walks, and quality inspections with stakeholders.
  • Address site issues, resolve painting-related complaints, and ensure client satisfaction.


8. Post-Completion Support

  • Monitor painting works during defect liability period (DLP).
  • Arrange for touch-ups, rectifications, and warranty follow-ups as necessary.
