Job Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, development and production delivery of ArtScience Museum’s exhibitions and programmes that align and reflect the institution’s mission and strategic goals of exploring where art, science, culture and technology come together.
  • Work closely with Producers and Curators to translate complex ideas, more specifically art and science ideas into compelling narratives and visually appealing experiences, that are accessible, interactive, inclusive and educational.
  • Collaborate and act as a point person between artists, scientists, researchers, educators and others to ensure scientific/factual accuracy and engaging storytelling,
  • Develop and manage project timelines, production schedules and logistical plans, ensuring that every aspect of the museum’s commitment to the exhibitions and programme stays on track.
  • Conduct site walks, venue set-up, deployment and load-out, ensuring safe working conditions in compliance with Workplace Safety and Health regulations.
  • Working closely with team members from Visitor Experience, Museum Services, Business & Innovation, Security, Facilities, MICE, Marketing and Communications to ensure smooth operations and delivery of exhibitions and programmes and adherence to protocols.
  • Support on the delivery and execution of upcoming ArtScience Residency.
  • Research best practices and champion for an inclusive approach to all exhibitions and programmes
  • Assist with administration and post-event evaluation, including managing audience databases and registration as well as collating feedback and producing reports from resulting data for analysis.
  • Assist with record keeping and organise documentation of working documents, content files, audio-visual materials, mailing lists, etc.
  • Liaise on write-ups and creative assets for marketing, social media and other promotional platforms.
  • Assist with ArtScience Museum events when appropriate
  • Any other duties appropriate to the role as requested by Director, PEMS.

Job Requirements

Education & Certification

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in any science-related field, arts management, social sciences, museology, or similar relevant qualification preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum two years of experience in the museum, science centre, arts and/or cultural sector programming for a range of audience.
  • Some knowledge of current debates in science, art-science and/or equality, diversity and inclusion arenas.

Other Prerequisites

  • Highly motivated, independent and organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing schedules and handle a range of responsibilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Familiar with international museum standards and best practices.
  • Passionate about communicating art and science through exhibitions and programmes.
  • Keen interest to champion inclusive approaches in the museum through (not limited to) exhibitions and programme design.
  • Demonstrates resilience and adaptability in responding to new ways of working or applying problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in project management.
  • Some experience working directly with artists, scientists, researchers and creatives in various formats.
  • Able to use good judgment and discretion and maintain a calm demeanor whilst working in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Positive team player, able to work effectively and harmoniously with diverse teams.
  • A confident communicator with excellent written and spoken English (an additional / second language would be an advantage) who is able to manage a variety of internal and external relationships and interactions.
  • Competence in computer systems, word processing, spreadsheet and data management programmes.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and Public Holidays when required (with time off in lieu).
