The Sequoia Climate Foundation is a private climate philanthropy foundation based in California. Sequoia is committed to bolstering the urgent work of the Foundation’s grantees and leveraging climate science to accelerate the energy transition across geographies and sectors.

The Role
Ideally based in Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, or Indonesia, this impact role will support the development of a regional strategy for Southeast Asia, working with diverse partners in the region to engage in greater horizon scanning, pathways analysis, stakeholders’ engagement, and constituency building.
You will also support the development of a grantmaking portfolio, identifying and strategizing to strengthen the institutional capacity of partners and the ecosystem in the region. Stewarding the grant portfolio, you will support collective sense-making and learning, whilst assessing challenges and opportunities.
You will engage in organization-wide learning and development around key mitigation sectors that will inform sectoral priorities for the region. You will establish collaboration and networks with peer organizations, government officials, thought leaders, and key stakeholders to assess emerging needs, gaps, opportunities, and advance grantmaking strategies and portfolios.
Importantly, you will identify ways to continue to drive stronger funder coordination including supporting climate philanthropy development in Asia.
Skills Required
With deep Southeast Asia experience, you have a good understanding of, or strong interest in, renewable energy systems and/or climate and the drivers and barriers to adoption of policies, practices, and technologies, and you are eager to help accelerate the regional energy transition by leveraging your project and budget management experience and your engagement and influencing skills.
Ideally you have a nonprofit programs, international development, philanthropy, advocacy, or related background, and you are a savvy relationship manager and networker, a confident presenter, and your work demonstrates your understanding of how to create systemic change via the development of a multifaceted strategy. You also offer the following experience:
- Proven capacity to develop creative strategies to solve complex problems
- Sharp written and verbal communication, strong English language skills
- A collaborative and proactive approach, ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Impeccable ethics, experience working confidentially and flexibly across the region
- Ideally an advanced qualification/relevant expertise/knowledge
- Native fluency in Asian language preferred
