Staff Silicon Photonics Test Engineer (Lead Role)

RAIN TREE PHOTONICS PTE. LTD.

About Rain Tree Photonics

At Rain Tree Photonics, we are building next-generation optical engines for co-packaged optics (CPO) and near-packaged optics (NPO) to break the bandwidth and power bottlenecks in AI infrastructure.

Our silicon photonic ICs power 200G/lane and beyond interconnects, enabling scalable, energy-efficient connectivity for AI data centers.

Role Overview

Technical owner for test strategy, infrastructure, and production readiness across product generations at Rain Tree Photonics.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Test Architecture & Strategy
  • Define end-to-end test architecture from wafer-level to module/system-level validation.

Own design verification strategy, coverage, and correlation across simulation → wafer → system.

  • Technical Leadership
  • Lead and mentor test engineers; establish best practices for measurement accuracy, repeatability, and throughput.

Drive alignment across design, packaging, and manufacturing teams.

  • Advanced Characterization
  • Own complex high-speed electro-optic characterization (112G/224G PAM4 and beyond).

Debug cross-domain issues spanning RF, photonics, packaging, and signal integrity.

  • Production & Yield Ownership
  • Define die sort strategies, test limits, and guard-bands.

Lead yield analysis, excursion handling, and root-cause investigations.

  • Test Platform & Automation
  • Architect scalable automated test platforms for wafer and module test using LabVIEW, Python, and industry-standard instrument interfaces (e.g., GPIB, VISA).

Establish data pipelines for high-volume analytics and yield learning.

  • R&D & Roadmap Influence
  • Influence product architecture with testability and manufacturability considerations.

Evaluate and introduce new test methodologies and equipment.

Requirements

  • Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in EE, Physics, or related field.

  • Experience
  • Typically 8–12+ years in silicon photonics, optical transceivers, or high-speed test.

  • Core Strengths
  • Deep expertise in high-speed EO/OE testing and RF measurement techniques.

Strong experience with wafer-level test, yield analysis, and production ramp.

Proven ability to lead projects and mentor engineers.

  • Programming & Tools
  • Strong proficiency in LabVIEW for instrument control and test system development.

Proficiency in Python for automation, data processing, and analytics.

Experience integrating test equipment via VISA/GPIB/SCPI interfaces.

  • Systems Knowledge
  • Strong understanding across photonics + electronics + packaging.
