- Take-Offs: Measuring surface areas (hull, ballast tanks, accommodation) from vessel blueprints or technical specifications to calculate total volume.
- Material Sourcing: Estimating costs for marine-grade paints, abrasives (grit/garnet), and scaffolding.
- Quotation Preparation: Compiling financial proposals and Bills of Quantities (BQ) for ship owners, contractors, or internal management.

- Subcontractor Management: Drafting, negotiating, and awarding contracts to blasting and painting subcontractors.
- Progress Valuation: Conducting site walks with the QA/QC or Marine Inspector to verify completed square footage.
- Payment Certification: Verifying, preparing, and processing interim payment claims for the painting crew.
- Cost Reporting: Tracking material consumption versus the budget to ensure commercial profitability.4. Variations (VO) & Claims Management
- Scope Changes: Calculating cost adjustments if additional areas require grit blasting or specific coating systems (e.g., higher DFT requirements or epoxy touch-ups).
- Project Closure: Compiling all site measurements, approved variation orders, and material sign-offs to settle the final project account with the vessel owners.
Terms & Conditions: Reviewing clauses regarding productivity targets, paint manufacturer requirements, and turnaround times (e.g., dry-dock limits).
Cost Control & Budgeting
Dispute Resolution: Assessing contractual claims in the event of project delays, rework, or specification non-compliance.
