Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineering Assistant performs the lead role in the implementation of manufacturing processes and LEAN implementation with Six Sigma tools. He/she is the owner of their respective manufacturing processes and standards and enforces implementation by training shop floor personnel, implementing and monitoring metrics, and oversight. He/she is responsible for resolving complex manufacturing problems and takes an active role in troubleshooting quality and production yield related issues within manufacturing. He/she is required to support maintenance and calibration activities related to production tools and equipment required for the manufacturing processes.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Production & Process Support

  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers in daily production support activities
  • Implement process improvements to achieve manufacturing excellence in areas such as process yield (e.g. First Pass Yield, Rolled Throughput Yield), cycle time reduction and productivity.
  • Provide shop floor feedback on product design and manufacturability issues to Engineering and DFMs (e.g. using Engineering Change Requests - Issues)
  • Review and sign-off on Engineering Change Orders (Change Actions) that impact Inventory - including product life cycle issues, obsolescence, etc.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with standard work instructions
  • procedures (SWIs).

2. Equipment Maintenance and Tooling Calibration Support

  • Work with technicians and vendors for troubleshooting equipment to reduce downtime for production.
  • Support and coordinate preventive maintenance activities for Pressure Test Bay (PTB).
  • Assist in installation, qualification, and validation of new manufacturing equipment, fixtures and tools.
  • Coordinate with Production Supervisor to identify the list of equipment that will be due for calibration monthly and updating records in SAP IMTE system.

3. Quality

  • Responsible for assisting with investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for manufacturing quality issues.
  • Processing of Quality Notification (QN)

4. Electrical Competency

  • Experience with electrical/electronic equipment such as Continuity Tester, Power supplies, Soldering, and Signal Generators (hands on experience recommended).
  • Experience in reviewing interface drawings and electrical circuit schematics.

5. Lean Six Sima

  • Responsible for the implementation of key elements of Lean, such as standardized work instructions, work sequence (routing) optimization, Kaizen/5S workouts, pull processes, TPM (Total Preventive Maintenance) and changeover/batch-size optimization.

Education and Prior Experience:

Education:

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Industrial Engineering, or related technical disciplines OR
  • Higher NITEC in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Industrial Engineering, or related technical disciplines

Experience: At least 3 years’ experience with manufacturing or engineering support role.

Key Competencies/Skillsets:

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes, including assembly and testing
  • Experience in equipment maintenance support and tooling calibration
  • Experience working on SAP HANA is an advantage
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts is an advantage
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Good communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skill
  • Knowledge of ergonomics and safety
  • Knowledge of maintenance systems
  • Basic oral and written communication skills
