Description

Supervise and mentor automation engineers, providing technical guidance across multiple manufacturing engineering functions including:

  • Automation Design for Manufacturability (DFM) – Drive early automation involvement in product design. Lead machine DFM reviews, create SOPs, and define FAT/SAT qualification standards for automated lines.
  • Product Engineering – Support full product lifecycle (concept to end‑of‑life) with production engineering expertise, including GD&T analysis, failure analysis, and enabling fully automated assembly.
  • Process Engineering – Develop and optimize complex processes (e.g., glue dispense, laser welding, etching, active alignment). Establish machine/process parameters to improve quality and equipment efficiency.
  • Failure & Data Analysis – Plan and execute testing for pre‑release products. Use FACAVR (Failure Analysis & Corrective Action & Validation Result), DOE, Six Sigma, and Monte Carlo principles to drive data‑based recommendations for design changes and assembly standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering/Science or equivalent.
  • 8+ years in automation engineering, including 2+ years in a managerial or technical leadership role.

Proven expertise in:

  • Designing product‑specific automation equipment (tooling, grippers, fixtures).
  • Design for manufacturability (DFM) to enable automated assembly.
  • Advanced manufacturing engineering (robotics, vision systems, Industry 4.0).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of optics principles as they relate to CCD cameras, 3D, 2D and 1D lasers, and their use for positioning and critical alignment fixtures.
  • Basic understanding of glue adhesive dispense, PSAs and VHBs, or coils winding processes, sensing camera processes, glass or lens lamination processes.
  • Understanding of pneumatics, servo motors, 4axis and 6axis robots, PLC and PC-based control systems a plus.
  • Ability to understand, create, and communicate detailed part, assembly and equipment tolerance analysis.
  • Knowledge of AI technology or machine learning, adapt to automation development working principle
  • Understanding of AVI, automation visual inspection technology, include HW/SW/Vision development
  • Knowledge of GD&T principles a plus.
  • X2, NX4, or Validated Work CAD experiences a plus. JMP, Minitab, and Six Sigma experience a plus.
  • Communicate effectively in a worldwide environment.
  • A passion and dedication in cost reduction, project management and automation engineering design.
  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of flexibility.
