Job Summary
The Job Coach supports neurodiverse youths and adults in behavioural management, vocational readiness, life skills, and community participation within a structured learning and vocational lab environment at NUS.
Responsibilities
Behavioural Support & Learner Engagement
- Implement individualised behavioural support strategies and intervention plans to improve learner outcomes.
- Coach learners to develop self-regulation, emotional regulation, social communication, and adaptive behaviours.
- Manage challenging behaviours using positive behaviour support techniques to maintain a safe learning environment.
- Monitor and document learner progress, behavioural observations, and outcomes for ongoing evaluation.
- Provide timely, clear feedback to multidisciplinary teams and caregivers to support learner development.
Vocational & Learning Support
- Coach learners through vocational training, work readiness programmes, and simulated work tasks to build job skills.
- Facilitate structured learning activities in vocational and life skills laboratories tailored to individual needs.
- Support learners in acquiring workplace behaviours, routines, and expectations to enhance employability.
- Adapt learning materials and task instructions to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Promote learner independence while providing appropriate levels of support to foster confidence.
Community & Employment Readiness
- Accompany and support learners during community-based training and work exposure activities to build real-world skills.
- Facilitate social integration and community participation opportunities to enhance interpersonal skills.
- Support learners in developing communication, interpersonal, and workplace skills for employment success.
- Conduct workplace observations and provide actionable feedback to improve job performance and retention.
Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain accurate records including progress reports, attendance, and intervention notes to track learner development.
- Participate actively in case discussions, team meetings, and professional development to enhance service quality.
- Collaborate effectively with caregivers, educational institutions, employers, and external stakeholders to coordinate support.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, safeguarding procedures, and workplace safety requirements.
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience supporting adults with autism and intellectual disabilities.
- Experience conducting vocational training or employment support programmes.
- Certification in Behavioural Intervention, Special Education, Psychology, or Job Coaching.
- Familiarity with person-centred planning and outcome-based support frameworks.
- Experience working within educational institutions, training centres, or community-based disability services.
