Investment Associate

Role Overview
The Investment Associate will support the company’s investment, M&A, and corporate finance activities across Southeast Asia. The role will focus on evaluating new investment opportunities, supporting transaction execution, conducting financial and commercial analysis, and assisting with capital raising initiatives across the renewable energy platform.
This position is suited for a high-performing finance professional with experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, project finance, investment banking, or private equity who is seeking exposure to principal investing and renewable energy transactions across Southeast Asian markets.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Evaluation & Analysis
- Support the evaluation of renewable energy investment opportunities across Southeast Asia including but not limited to acquisitions of greenfield and brownfield assets, joint ventures, self-development opportunities, etc.
- Build and maintain financial models for project finance, acquisitions, development projects, and portfolio valuation exercises.
- Monitor renewable energy market trends, regulatory developments, power market reforms, and competitor activity across ASEAN markets.
- Assist with preparation of investment memoranda, transaction papers, and management presentations.
Transaction Execution
- Support end-to-end transaction execution across due diligence, valuation, negotiation of financing and transaction documentation work streams.
- Coordinate technical, legal, tax, ESG, and commercial advisors through diligence on prospective investments, review their work streams, and synthesise findings into investment recommendations.
- Assist with diligence tracking, supporting on internal reporting and approval processes.
- Travel across Southeast Asia for site visits and meetings with sellers, advisors, regulators, lenders, and other counterparties.
- Support KYC and counterparty onboarding processes, including coordination with compliance, legal, and external advisors on KYC, AML, and sanctions screening requirements for counterparties, lenders, and transaction parties.
Corporate Finance & Capital Raising
- Support debt raising initiatives at both project and platform levels.
- Assist with lender presentations, financing models, and financing process management.
Asset Management
- Support asset management activities for post-acquisition assets, including monitoring operational and financial performance against business plan, tracking KPIs and covenants, and identifying value-creation and optimisation initiatives across the portfolio.
- Support preparation of asset-level reporting to management, shareholders, and lenders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Accounting, or related discipline.
- 3–5 years of experience in investment banking, project finance, infrastructure investing, private equity, renewable energy, or corporate finance, including experience at an Independent Power Producer (IPP).
- Strong financial modelling and valuation capabilities.
- Exposure to infrastructure, power, or renewable energy transactions preferred.
- Familiarity with project finance structures and investment processes.
- Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and execution mindset.
