Job Responsibilities

  • NPI & DFT Strategy: Collaborate with the Customer Focus Team (CFT) and customer to implement an adequate Test Strategy for NPI. Lead early-stage Design for Test (DFT) reviews with customers and R&D teams to ensure new PCBA designs are optimized for maximum test coverage and meet NPI timelines.
  • Advanced Test Architecture & Programming: Architect complex test scripts and software programs, and review/approve code modifications made by junior engineers to ensure robust and accurate functional testing.
  • Mass Production: Develop and deploy In-Circuit Test (ICT), Functional Circuit Test (FCT), and System Test, where applicable, for production and ensure optimal test coverage and cycle time.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Lead and advise failure debug activities and perform Failure Analysis (FA) to identify the assignable root cause. Work with the CFT to resolve the issue and get advice/disposition from the customer when needed.
  • Yield & Continuous Improvement: Monitor and analyze test data to identify trends, implement test yield improvements, and reduce "no-fault-found" (NFF) rates. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and actively guide/mentor engineers in executing these projects utilizing Lean Six Sigma (LSS) methodologies.
  • Maintenance Escalation: Act as the highest-level technical escalation point for the Test Maintenance team, collaborating to resolve severe equipment breakdowns and establish long-term preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Change Management: Execute Engineering Change Notices (ECN) accurately and timely. Review the changes and conduct risk assessments.
  • Meetings & Escalation: Act as a key escalation point in internal and customer meetings to ensure adherence to customer requirements and prompt resolution of complex test issues.
  • Compliance, Validation & Documentation: Lead equipment validation processes (IQ/OQ/PQ) and ensure all test methodologies strictly comply with ISO 13485 medical regulatory standards and internal Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) safety protocols. Write, update, and standardize test procedures, train technicians and operators, and prepare project status presentations.
  • Equipment Readiness: Buy-off to ensure equipment and test fixtures meet technical specifications from customers and are manufacturing ready.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Depending on the assigned customer account, act as the direct supervisor for junior Test Engineers. Provide necessary assistance, advanced training, and technical guidance to the team.
  • Cost Management: Review and manage test-related costs to ensure adherence to the department budget.
  • NRE Procurement: Secure Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) budgets from customers for spares and calibration where applicable.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure required Test indirect materials are within min/max levels and monitor expiry dates where applicable.
  • Capacity Planning: Perform and review monthly Test Capacity studies.
  • Vendor Selection: Select and evaluate vendors for the procurement of test equipment and the development of test fixtures.
  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in test engineering, system integration, and fault analysis.
  • Preferably with a strong foundation in Electronics.
  • Advanced knowledge of ISO 13485, equipment validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), and related medical device manufacturing requirements.
  • Solid understanding of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) principles to guide team projects.
  • Advanced ICT / FCT knowledge is highly preferred.
  • Programming knowledge is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office/Google Suite applications.
  • Knowledge of different Operating Systems and Networking.
  • Expertise in using measuring instruments and schematic reading.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional and customer leadership.
  • Strong negotiation, cost management, and vendor management skills.
