Head of Technical

Role Overview

The Head of Technical will lead all technical and engineering functions across the project lifecycle, including development support, engineering, design review, construction oversight, commissioning, operations support, and asset optimization.

The role will also support operational asset optimization initiatives across the company’s existing renewable energy portfolio to maximize plant performance, reliability, and long-term asset value.

The successful candidate will combine strong project delivery capabilities with deep renewable energy engineering expertise and operational asset management experience across Southeast Asia.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Define and implement the company’s regional technical strategy and engineering standards.
• Provide technical oversight across solar PV, wind, BESS, and hybrid projects.
• Ensure technical excellence throughout development, construction, and operational phases.

 Development & Engineering Support

• Support project screening, feasibility studies, and technical due diligence.
• Lead resource assessments, yield analysis, technology selection, and design optimization.
• Review EPC proposals, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Support grid connection and interconnection studies.

 Construction & Execution

• Oversee EPC contractors, Owner’s Engineer activities, and construction quality assurance.
• Monitor project execution, commissioning, testing, and handover processes.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Asset Performance & Operations

• Develop technical standards for operations and maintenance activities.
• Implement asset performance monitoring and support operational portfolio optimization initiatives to improve plant availability, generation performance, and operational efficiency.
• Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance improvement initiatives.

 Technical Governance & Risk Management

• Establish engineering standards, technical governance frameworks, and HSE requirements across the portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, international standards, lender technical requirements, and contractual obligations.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks across development, construction, and operational phases.

 Team Leadership

• Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, safety, accountability, and collaboration across the platform.
• Mentor and develop engineering and technical talent across development, construction, and operational functions to build long-term organizational capability.
• Encourage knowledge sharing, technical standardization, and cross-country collaboration across regional technical teams.
• Establish clear technical governance, development pathways, and performance expectations to support employee growth and retention.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Renewable Energy Engineering.
• 12-18+ years of experience in renewable energy engineering, construction, or technical management.
• Strong experience across utility-scale solar, wind, and battery storage projects.
• Experience working within IPPs, EPCs, utilities, or renewable energy developers.
• Deep understanding of project lifecycle management and renewable energy technologies.
• Familiarity with Southeast Asia’s grid systems, permitting, and technical regulations.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Experience managing cross-border technical teams preferred.
