Role Overview
The Head of Corporate Finance / M&A will lead the company’s investment, capital raising, and transaction activities across Southeast Asia. The role is primarily responsible for delivering new investments into the platform through acquisitions, development platform partnerships, strategic investments, and joint ventures across the renewable energy sector.
The successful candidate will drive end-to-end transaction execution, capital deployment, and financing activities to support the company’s regional growth strategy across Southeast Asia. This role requires a commercially driven investment leader with strong renewable energy transaction experience, regional market knowledge, and the ability to originate, structure, negotiate, and close complex transactions.
Key Responsibilities
M&A & Investments
- Lead the origination, evaluation, structuring, negotiation, and execution of new investments across Southeast Asia.
- Deliver platform growth through acquisitions, minority investments, development partnerships, and joint ventures.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of actionable investment opportunities aligned with the company’s strategic priorities.
- Lead end-to-end M&A execution including valuation, commercial assessment, due diligence, negotiation, and transaction completion.
- Prepare investment papers and recommendations for executive management and investment committees.
- Drive transaction execution timelines to achieve targeted investment deployment objectives.
Corporate Finance & Capital Raising
- Lead debt fundraising initiatives for platform-level and project-level financing.
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders.
- Structure and negotiate project finance, acquisition finance, and refinancing transactions.
- Support portfolio capital allocation, liquidity planning, and financing optimization initiatives.
Strategic & Commercial Leadership
- Contribute to regional market entry strategies and investment prioritization.
- Monitor market developments, regulatory changes, power market reforms, and competitor activity.
- Partner closely with business development, technical, legal, and project development teams to evaluate opportunities.
- Support negotiations with utilities, government stakeholders, and strategic counterparties.
Team Leadership
- Foster a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and execution-oriented culture that supports the company’s long-term growth ambitions.
- Mentor and develop talent across investment, financial analysis, and transaction execution functions to build a strong internal leadership pipeline.
- Promote knowledge sharing, professional development, and cross-functional collaboration across regional teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Accounting, or related discipline; MBA and/or CFA preferred.
- 12–18+ years of experience in renewable energy, project finance, investment banking, or private equity.
- Strong experience executing renewable energy M&A and financing transactions in Asia-Pacific.
- Deep understanding of utility-scale solar, wind, BESS, and IPP business models.
- Proven financial modelling and valuation expertise.
- Familiarity with Southeast Asian energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and project development environments.
- Strong network across lenders, investors, developers, and advisory firms.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
