Job Summary
You will perform vehicle repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance on heavy-duty trucks, ensuring all work meets UD/Volvo quality standards and safety requirements. You will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, maintain accurate records, and collaborate with team leaders to optimize productivity.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems on heavy-duty trucks to ensure operational reliability
- Perform service maintenance tasks including power steering diagnostics and repair, engine overhaul, ESCOT control housing and gearbox overhaul, rear axle overhaul, and emission system servicing
- Conduct advanced multimeter measurements and wiring repairs to troubleshoot electrical faults
- Use Tech Tool software to trace faults, calibrate, and program vehicle electronic systems
- Accurately record repair times and details in work orders and update team leaders on repair progress and requirements
- Follow warranty processes including tagging, returning, and storing warranty parts according to procedures
- Maintain a clean and safe work bay and handle tools and equipment responsibly
- Ensure genuine parts replacement and service compliance with manufacturer standards and ethical guidelines
- Lead by example to uphold high health and safety standards within the work area
- Attend training and upgrading courses to maintain technical skills
- Respond to vehicle breakdowns as needed, holding a valid Class 3/4 driving license
- Adhere to UD/Volvo policies, processes, and quality standards
- Perform any other duties assigned by immediate superiors
Required competencies and certifications
- NITEC in Automotive Technology or former NTC 3/2 in Motor Vehicle Mechanics or NTC 3/2 Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanics or Diploma in Automotive Engineering or related field
- Valid Class 3 or 4 driving license (Singapore)
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- 4 to 6 years of experience servicing and repairing heavy trucks, including Japanese and Continental brands
- Knowledge of basic vehicle principles and concepts
- Advanced understanding of engine, transmission, and brake systems
- Ability to interpret vehicle electrical circuit diagrams
- Proficiency in using a multimeter for basic electrical measurements
