We are seeking a Data Engineer with strong database and data management expertise to support our client which is a leading global investment bank. The ideal candidate will support payment-related platforms and data ecosystems, and be responsible for managing and analyzing data across multiple upstream and downstream systems. He/she will ensure data integrity, supporting API integrations, and contributing to data strategy initiatives within the payments domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data solutions to support payment processing and transaction management platforms.
- Manage data flows and integrations between upstream and downstream systems, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database solutions for reporting, analytics, and operational needs.
- Perform data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Support API-based integrations between internal and external platforms, ensuring seamless data exchange.
- Work closely with business, operations, and technology stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Investigate and resolve data-related issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.
- Define and implement data governance, quality controls, and data management best practices.
- Contribute to the development of data architecture and long-term data strategy initiatives.
- Prepare technical documentation, data mappings, and process flows for integration and data management activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Possess at least 3-5 years of experience in data engineering, database management, or data integration roles.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
- Experience managing and analysing large datasets across multiple interconnected systems.
- Experience in the payments domain is required
- Knowledge of API integrations and data exchange mechanisms (REST, JSON, XML, etc.).
- Understanding of ETL processes, data modelling, and data warehousing concepts.
- Familiarity with payment transaction lifecycles, settlement, reconciliation, and payment messaging standards is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and complex technology environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms and modern data architectures.
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality frameworks, and regulatory requirements within financial services.
- Exposure to payment platforms, API gateways, and integration middleware solutions.
