As a Buyer III at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will be responsible for ensuring reliable and cost-effective supply chain operations while contributing to our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. You will manage strategic supplier relationships, drive procurement initiatives, and collaborate across functions to optimize material availability and inventory levels. This role provides opportunities to guide continuous improvement projects, implement cost savings strategies, and develop effective solutions for supply chain challenges.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will analyze requirements, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure on-time delivery of materials critical to our manufacturing operations. You will apply analytical and negotiation skills to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions while maintaining high quality standards. This position enables you to contribute to operational excellence while developing your expertise in a dynamic environment.

1. Responsibilities and Authorities

  • Raw material planning
  • Responsible for master scheduling, capacity planning and machine loading to meet operational objectives.
  • Analyze and coordinate with master scheduler / Supply Chain team to determine optimal RM
  • Own overall raw material availability, inventory plan, projection and control, Back-order, Supplier OTD. Raw material Plan (SIOP, PEFP, NPI, EOL, VAVE, LTB), PO placement, execution, resolve level 1 issue;
  • Review and analyze materials requirements for production and implement the necessary actions such as generating Purchase Order, scheduling and re-scheduling of material based on MRP requirement.
  • Analyze and determine optimal inventory turns or raw material to meet corporate target, maximize manufacturing resources and customer fulfillment.
  • Analyze Material obsolescence and manage & report excess material exposure.
  • Responsible to generate and maintain Supply Chain Metrics on a regular basis.
  • Participate in material review session for non-conforming materials and activate timely return of non-conforming materials to vendor
  • Process, Audits and suppliers’ Management.
  • Coordinate and drive interdepartmental activity with various departments like quality assurance, manufacturing, engineering, logistics and customer service etc.
  • Maintain and enhance good relationship with suppliers and determine supplier’s KPI.
  • Prepare & lead the team in internal and external audit activities.
  • Maintain and ensure systems and procedures in Department are in compliance with SOX, ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001, ISO13485, ISO14971, FDA 21 CFR Part 820 and other regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare reports and data for corporate relating to purchasing and planning functions.
  • Determine any new department operation procedure is required and implemented.
  • Analyze and prepare recommendations to improve policy, standard procedure, computer system, forecasts method and projects.
  • Provide guidance and training for new or senior buyer/planners.
  • Deploy judgment and techniques to resolve complex issues that require extensive evaluation and analysis efforts.
  • JDE E1 Superuser (familiar with ERP/MRP system setup will be an advantage)
  • Projects and NPI
  • Manage and lead related projects or NPI in procurement, planning and purchasing function.

2. Qualification • Degree in Materials Management or equivalent

3. Experience • Minimum 8 years related experience required in buying and planning activities in a manufacturing environment. More extensive experience required for non-Degree holders.

4. Competencies preferred • Require good working knowledge of materials or product flow and control techniques.

  • Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to manage relationships with cross function team and all level of people from peers, colleague and Senior Management.
  • Able to work independently, self-motivated and guide peers to achieve departmental goals.
  • Possess analytical, problem solving skill and independent decision-making ability
  • Able to manage multiple projects and multi-task.
  • Requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • ERP (JDE E1 superuser (familiar with MRP system setup will be an advantage), SAP, system) Strong excel and PowerBi experience and skills required.
