Interior Design Drafter
Job Summary
The Interior Design Drafter is responsible for preparing detailed interior design drawings, shop drawings, space planning layouts, and construction documentation for residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. The role involves working closely with interior designers, project managers, consultants, and contractors to ensure design concepts are accurately translated into technical drawings for project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed interior design drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans, and construction details.
Develop shop drawings and construction drawings for interior fit-out works.
Assist interior designers in translating design concepts into technical and working drawings.
Coordinate drawings with architects, engineers, consultants, suppliers, and contractors.
Revise drawings based on design changes, site conditions, and client requirements.
Conduct site measurements and verify dimensions when required.
Prepare as-built drawings upon project completion.
Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, local regulations, and industry standards.
Maintain proper documentation and version control of all project drawings.
Assist in material selection presentations, drawing submissions, and project documentation.
Support project teams in resolving technical and design-related issues during construction.
Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Drafting, or a related field.
Minimum 2–5 years of experience in interior design drafting or fit-out projects.
Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office applications.
Familiarity with Revit, 3D Max, Lumion, or other visualization software is an advantage.
Strong understanding of interior construction details, materials, and finishing works.
Ability to interpret design concepts and produce accurate technical drawings.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Good communication and coordination abilities.
Preferred Skills
Experience in residential, commercial, retail, office, or hospitality interior projects.
Knowledge of local building codes and authority requirements.
Experience in preparing joinery and custom furniture shop drawings.
Understanding of construction methods and interior fit-out processes.
Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
