Counsellor (Gambling Addiction)

We are looking for a Counsellor to deliver the highest quality of counselling services for clients with gambling addictions and other counselling needs, equipping and motivating them to achieve positive change.

Counsellors’ scope of work includes conducting assessments, applying relevant counselling techniques (e.g. Motivational Interviewing / CBT), providing psychoeducation, documenting of case notes, submission of relevant reports and relevant administrative work.

Primary Duties:

  • Deliver a suite of counselling services for clients with gambling addictions and/or other counselling needs

  • Conduct initial interviews using approved assessment tools and frameworks

  • Tailor counselling approach to address individual client’s needs and presenting issues

  • Deliver relevant psychoeducation including equipping clients with practical skills & knowledge

  • Document all case notes and submit relevant reports according to set turnaround timelines

  • Facilitate application process for relevant support programmes

  • Maintain excellent professional relationships with clients and key stakeholders at all times

  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with internal / project requirements

  • Maintain knowledge in line with changes in the field and to the highest standard

  • Provide general counselling support to other clients as required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Passionate about working with clients with addictions or counselling needs and helping them achieve positive change

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Conversant in at least one other local language other than English (i.e. Malay, Tamil, and Mandarin)

  • Adhere to all AKG values and represent our business in a professional manner at all times

  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and respect when working with people from diverse backgrounds

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimally a graduate diploma holder in counselling or other relevant qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of practice in a similar capacity in the social services sector in the past 3 years

  • Registered with the Singapore Association of Counselling (SAC) as a qualified counsellor

  • Certified Gambling Addiction Counsellor (CGAC) or other relevant specialist qualifications preferred
