JOB PURPOSE
The Assistant Pricing Manager is responsible for supporting the end-to-end process of creating and pricing insurance products that align with company goals and market demands. This role involves analyzing market trends, developing product strategies, creating sophisticated pricing models, and collaborating with various teams to ensure successful product launches. The position also requires overseeing Value of New Business (VNB) reporting, mentoring junior staff, and engaging with senior leadership as required. The Assistant Pricing Manager must balance innovation with risk management, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive profitability while meeting customer needs across various lines of business. The role allows for exposure to other team leaders within the Singapore team and across business functions (ALM, Valuation etc.), as well as providing excellent career development opportunities for strong candidates
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Product Development
- Support pricing and actuarial analysis for new HNW product initiatives, ensuring alignment with profitability requirements and market strategy.
- Collaborate with Product Strategy & Proposition, Implementation and Business teams to design differentiated HNW offerings and features.
- Support special quotes, jumbo cases, and bespoke client solutions.
2. Actuarial Modeling & Financial Analysis
- Develop and maintain deterministic and stochastic models for pricing and profitability assessment.
- Leverage PathWise and other advanced modeling tools to strengthen modelling capabilities
- Monitor new business performance
- Conduct pricing assessments and optimize pricing structures
3. Product Implementation and Approval
- Support analysis to obtain product approvals from Asia Peer Review team
- Work with implementation squad on Cover Page and Policy Illustration templates
- Participate in system implementation activities
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal guidelines
- Clearly communicate complex technical results to senior leaders.
4. Value of New Business (VNB) Reporting
- Oversee VNB reporting activities and processes
- Produce and explain drivers of profitability for quarterly submissions
- Build new products into the valuation model
- Implement pre-production ACMA (Assumption Changes and Model Adjustments)
5. Leadership and Collaboration
- Serve as a technical expert in product mechanics, pricing practices, and actuarial innovation
- Enhance modeling capabilities across the function.
- Mentor and support junior pricing analyst, reinforcing consistency and best practices
- Drive innovative thinking around product features, risk assessment, and analytic methodologies.
- Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
1 Education :
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field required Advanced degree preferred
2. Experience :
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Life Insurance industry
- Strong analytical skills and technical proficiency
3. Skills and Knowledge :
- Excellent knowledge of local insurance products, pricing methodologies, and industry regulations
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., R, Python, Excel). Exposure in Axis or PathWise is desirable.
- Strong technical skills and problem-solving ability, able to work in a dynamic environment
- Strategic thinking and business acumen
4. Certifications :
- Professional actuarial qualification (e.g., ASA, ACAS, or equivalent) required. Professional actuarial qualification (e.g., FSA, FCAS, or equivalent) preferred
5. Industry Knowledge
- Knowledge of Local capital regime, RBC2 and of IFRS17
6. Other Skills :
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
- Adaptability to work within agile methodologies and respond to changing market demands.
