Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role:

SMITECH is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to support the planning, coordination, supervision and delivery of electrical and M&E works for a major infrastructure construction project in Singapore.

This role will work closely with the Project Manager, consultants, subcontractors, site teams and internal project stakeholders to ensure that electrical, ELV and related MEP installations are executed safely, correctly and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, statutory requirements and project standards.

This project role is to be based on site on a 5.5-day work week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Project Manager in the planning, coordination, execution and supervision of electrical and M&E works on site.
• Oversee electrical, ELV and related MEP interface works, including coordination with ACMV, fire protection, plumbing and sanitary systems where required.
• Review approved drawings, specifications, tender documents, contract requirements and authority requirements to identify technical risks, constructability issues and site constraints.
• Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams to resolve technical issues, design clashes, RFIs and site coordination matters.
• Prepare, review and follow up on RFIs, technical clarifications, shop drawings, material submissions, ITPs, MSRA and method statements.
• Supervise site engineers, supervisors and subcontractors to ensure works are carried out according to project schedule, quality standards and safety requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections to check installation progress, workmanship quality and compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Monitor site productivity, technical progress and work sequencing to support timely project delivery.
• Coordinate and witness testing and commissioning activities for completed electrical and MEP systems prior to handover.
• Support project documentation, inspection records, handover records and close-out submissions where required.
• Enforce WSHE requirements and promote safe work practices among site teams and subcontractors.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, M&E construction or infrastructure project delivery.
• Strong experience in electrical and ELV works within construction, infrastructure, transport, utilities, airport, MRT/LTA-related, industrial or large-scale public-sector projects will be an advantage.
• Good understanding of electrical installation works, technical coordination, shop drawings, material submissions, ITPs, MSRA, RFIs and testing & commissioning procedures.
• Able to read and interpret drawings, specifications, contract documents and authority requirements.
• Hands-on experience coordinating with consultants, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, site teams and internal management.
• Strong site coordination, technical problem-solving, documentation and communication skills.
• Able to lead site engineers, supervisors and subcontractors in a fast-paced project environment.
• Familiar with Singapore construction site practices, quality requirements and WSHE expectations.
