Control Risks
Role purpose
Our South-east Asia I&I team works closely with leading multinational corporations, financial institutions, private market investors and law firms to help them understand and manage complex business risks across the region.
We support clients on a wide range of matters, including integrity due diligence, reputational risk assessments, investigations, political and regulatory risk analysis, and strategic market-entry decisions. Our work helps clients make informed decisions, protect their operations and navigate challenging operating environments.
Researchers play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, client-ready intelligence and analytical reports. They contribute to research, analysis and report drafting across a variety of assignments, while also supporting the practice’s business development and thought leadership activities through the preparation of client briefings, sector updates and other research materials.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for candidates with a strong academic and/or professional interest in Vietnam and Southeast Asia to develop a career in business intelligence, strategic advisory and risk consulting. While this is an early-career role, candidates with relevant professional experience will be viewed favourably.
Role tasks and responsibilities
Research, analysis and report writing
Conduct in-depth research and analysis using public records, media reporting, corporate disclosures, databases and other open-source materials
Support the production of high-quality, client-ready reports within agreed timelines and budgets
Analyse complex information and identify key reputational, political, commercial and integrity risks relevant to client objectives
Contribute to integrity due diligence, business intelligence and investigative assignments across Southeast Asia, with a primary focus on Vietnam
Work closely with project managers, editors and regional colleagues to ensure analytical consistency and high-quality deliverables
Support the identification of emerging political, regulatory and business trends relevant to clients operating in the region
Business development and knowledge management
Conduct research and prepare materials to support client engagements, proposals, briefings and marketing activities
Contribute to internal knowledge management by maintaining and expanding the practice’s databases and research resources
Support the preparation of sector briefings, thematic research and thought leadership content
Attend client meetings, calls and research trips where appropriate
Requirements
Knowledge and experience
Excellent command of written and spoken English and Vietnamese
Strong research, analytical and report-writing skills
Ability to synthesise and communicate complex information clearly and concisely
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
Demonstrated interest in political, economic and business developments in Vietnam and Southeast Asia
Good understanding of commercial transactions and corporate structures
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a regional team environment
Strong professional ethic, intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn
Qualifications and specialist skills
At least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as international relations, political science, economics, business, finance, journalism, communications or other social sciences
Relevant internship or professional experience in research, consulting, journalism, risk advisory, investigations or related fields would be advantageous
